Awesome, I will check it out for sure. Thanks again to both of you for the help, I will post back here after my next batch with -hopefully- better results. Cheers!

Help with poor efficiency on Anvil 6.5

Oh nice, I haven't heard of using a whisk before but definitely willing to give it a shot. I think I have just been using "efficiency" interchangeably, but I am learning there are far more kinds of efficiency than I initially appreciated. I have been doing the no sparge with this particular...

Help with poor efficiency on Anvil 6.5

Wow, thank you for your detailed response, I really appreciate it. I am recirculating during the mash, although that was generally just turning the pump on and making sure the basket doesn't overflow- I will try to measure next time and go with your rate to see if that makes a difference. My...

Help with poor efficiency on Anvil 6.5

Hey Everyone, I've been brewing off and on for several years, but there is a difference between cumulative years of experience and repeating the same experience for several years... so for the sake of this post let's assume I have a very basic level of brewing knowledge. I can put grain in one...

    Using Turkey Fryer@ Apartment

Just wanted to say that I'm in the clear. Apparently it's mass quantities of flaming hot oil that is the problem, not the setup itself. I've got the go-ahead to brew on my "outdoor propane burner and stock pot" system and will be brewing up a batch this weekend. Thanks all, lets just hope the...

    Using Turkey Fryer@ Apartment

I would go electric but that's not really in the cards for now. I miss the "brewery" too man, having a floor drain and an unused 220 socket would have come in really handy about now. I think I'm going to go the "hypothetical massive chili cooker" route, not turkey fryer.

    Using Turkey Fryer@ Apartment

haha, "If someone hypothetically had a turkey fryer and was using it for stock...would that be ok? Of course not me...someone...hypothetically...*cough*" Crossing my fingers that it's just the oil! Going to ask tomorrow and hopefully be ok for the weekend.

    Using Turkey Fryer@ Apartment

I appreciate the information MalFet; guess it all comes down to me just asking them. Thanks for the help, I didn't expect my question to get answered so quickly :mug:

    Using Turkey Fryer@ Apartment

OK, that's good to know. I was actually hoping to get a landlord/management point of view and I guess I will hold off until I can clear it with the management here. My assumption in the matter was that it's the danger and fire hazard created by frying a turkey that was the problem. The main...

    Using Turkey Fryer@ Apartment

I was looking around to see if anyone has had experience with this issue: I brew at my apartment on my back deck using a turkey fryer burner/stockpot combo. My apartment allows LP grills, but has a ban on turkey fryers. Understandable. I'm clearly not frying a turkey, which can be...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Just finished up and got this into my carboy...but I'm wondering about the hop flavor. I tasted my hydro sample out of curiosity and just tasted pure sweet apple. Do the hops start to show themselves when the gravity drops a bit? Or did I somehow screw this up? Followed the recipe on the front...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Alright, sounds good! Guess I'll try the 120L to start with, seems to be what alot of people have been saying works :mug:

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Gonna start a batch of this sometime this week! Only thing I'm not sure about is what qualifies as a "cheap store brand"...anything cheap from a store? Thinking of finding something like Mott's that doesn't have preservatives. Just wondering so I know which kind of crystal I should...
