Straight-A is a cleaner though isn't it? I plan to use iodophor as my sanitizer. Not sure if I'm correct since I'm so new at this, but I thought that was right.
Just picked up a used corny keg and plan to replace the O-rings and fill the keg up with a straight-a solution. If I leave this overnight followed by sanitizing with iodophor will this do the trick? I've read most people use PBW or oxy clean but I don't have either of those yet. Thanks
So I made a big mistake and didn't realize it until now. I tried a bottle of my oatmeal stout (now 2 weeks since bottling) and its not very carbonated yet. I looked back at the directions and I put 3/4 of a pound of corn sugar in to prime instead of 3/4 of a cup. Any suggestions? I suppose I...
The brew pictured is an IPA designed by my LHBS
12oz. crystal malt
9.5 Lbs Light Extract
1.5 oz. Columbus
2 oz. Simcoe
White Labs California Ale Yeast
I pitched the yeast around 78 degrees and its been fermenting around 66-68 degrees. I'll be sure to let it sit for a week or so before...
Is that what yeast looks like when it begins to ferment? And thanks for the response I appreciate it! I'll keep it closed until its done :drunk:
Thanks everyone. I didn't take too long to fall into the foolish noob category it seems!
Took a look at my wort (couldn't help it) and saw these white spots on the surface. It hasn't started fermenting yet and has only been in primary less than 24 hours, but I was wondering what this is/what I may need to do about it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Do I need to keep my carboy in the dark for this brew? I've read that hops are the primary reason to keep your beer away from any UV light, but how about Apfelwein? Just put this batch together, its going to be a long 4 weeks!
