I live in Albemarle and never even thought about these guys. We have Carter Mountain Orchard here, too. I don't know if they sell in bulk though. How much is the cider from Albemarle Ciderworks?

If you're just worried about plastic vs glass, I made my last batch in a Mr. Beer plastic keg and it came out fine. The scoby is still sitting in there with a few inches of booch waiting for me to start the next batch tonight.

Firehouse Subs sells their empty 5 gallon pickle buckets. There are threads on this site discouraging their use for beer fermenting, but would they be good for kombucha? Would the vinegaryness be beneficial to the brew or would it still be too "dilly" and affect the taste of the booch?
