    Modular Brew Structure

I've been rocking a direct fire for years. The trick is heating the mash water in it and then adding in the grain with the fire off. Turn 'er back on to heat back to temp and then leave off and only refire when needed during the mash. I would imagine you could seriously caramelize a batch really...

    Modular Brew Structure

Has anyone come up with a modular brew structure which breaks down into separate components? I was thinking about how traditional brew structures need to be either really tall or really long or both to accommodate keggles or 10-15 gallon brew pots. It would seem advantageous for those of us...

    Hops are already up...

Yeah, for me too. My cascades are over a foot high already.

    Hops are already up...

Yeah, I'll be keeping a close eye on the temps up here as I wouldn't doubt that a frost might hit in the next week now that it has gotten a little more chilly. Nonetheless, this is impressive. I wonder how the missus would like a full size bine growing around the sliding glass door inside?

Yeah, damn things continue to grow and more bines have broken through on the same plant and on my Nuggets which are in the sunniest spot in the backyard.

Er... dunno how many of you have been watching the Olympics and have noticed the spring-like weather we've been having up here in Vancouver but my hops certainly have. I potted some transplanted Cascades at the end of the fall and they've already sent three shoots skyward at 5,4 and 3 inches...

Using a pasta maker to mill grain.

Yeah, I built a hopper on top and a four sided little box that sits under the mill and directs the crushed grain into the bucket. I usually find some uncrushed stuff stuck in the bottom portion of my mill and so once I'm done grinding I shake it out over another bowl and run it through the mill.

Lard's tunderin' jaysis, bye. A Newfoundlander taking up my invention! My pasta roller mill invention has made it to the ROCK! I am truly honoured.

    Brew Friend Problem.

Ahhh screw it. He can get his own set up. I only pay $30 for a 12 gallon batch as is. How friggin' cheap can I get? But nonetheless, should I accomodate, it is a win/win.

OH! As much as I was tired of people continuing to comment on this thread, Arkador has made about the best suggestion I have ever heard. Bob is going to pay for the entire batch next time and I'll keep half. That would totally interest me and make it worth my while.

    Brew Friend Problem.

This is too good. I can't believe I've said three times that I've already decided what I was going to do yet people just keep posting. Let's go for 10 pages!!!

    Brew Friend Problem.

Well, one of the huge problems with him getting his own equipment is that he doesn't want to use a cooler, a bucket and a small kettle. He wants something like my keggles or better/bigger. I've already told him he could have an all-grain setup for under $200 but he is stuck on having one worth...

    Brew Friend Problem.

Like I posted earlier, I'll tell him straight out next time he asks or brings it up. I figure the best way to motivate him to buy his own gear is to cut off his beer supply. He's a decent chap and he has the money, time and space to brew so he should get on it. I'll be more than happy to go over...

    Brew Friend Problem.

Yeah Montanaandy, I was thinking of just saying that I just don't have the time and energy to put into brewing beer which I won't later be drinking. I'm thinking he sort of realized what he had in not having to spend the time or money on his own and getting the benefit of labour "lite" brew and...

I guess I should ask in addition, where one can buy the cheapest stainless brew pots, false bottoms/MLTs for 5 or 10 gallon batches?
