    Good "lawn mower ale" recipe?

Haha, I hear you. I did a search to pull some good lawnmower beer recipes and this thread intrigued me so thought I'd take a shot at replying. Think I'm going to try that one but just use corn, no flaked barley. I also could not find Yooper's recipes. I wonder if that is a feature they have...

    Good "lawn mower ale" recipe?

Might not be super important, but do you feel it will make a big difference if I use lets say 8 oz. of flaked corn vs. 4 oz. flaked corn/4 oz. flaked barley? Difference in flavor? Body? Original gravity? I guess it would likely be more corn instead of a balance maybe.

    Water Filter Setup

Yes, bought a 3/4" male adapter from Menards yesterday and it was too big for the filter housing. I have the beer filtering kit from More Beer and just was using it with water filter. Want to build the PVC part to fill jugs up.

    Hop Growing in Wisconsin

Awesome, how did yours turn out? I thought for first year harvesting (2nd summer) I did okay. 2 of the 4 I planted produced hops and so far I have gotten 6 oz (Dry) and 12-15 oz (Wet) of Cascade hops. I still have maybe a couple ounces (Wet) left to pick. Not bad for first year.

    Smoking Hops

I'm not a smoker, besides occasional cigar, but curiosity got the best of me since this is the first year I had home grown cascade hops. Tried it out and like above, it didn't really do anything. It certainly did not taste bad and was enjoyable to a point, but in the end didn't really do...

    2017 Hop Harvest Totals

2nd year, about 6-7 oz. "dried" off of 2 that I planted last fall. The other 2 I planted did not do anything. I'm pretty sure 1 the root got too wet. But I thought for 2nd year it was pretty decent and look forward to next year. I don't know if I will be able to tell the rhizome vs. root...

First year Hops dont smell Hoppy.

Is it common to smell the citrus aroma when picked but after dried that smell is faint/gone?

    Hop Growing in Wisconsin

I ended up getting some small Cascade hop plants late last summer and planted them. 2 of the 4 came up strong this year. I think the other 2 maybe got over saturated as the root was pretty wet. But I'm happy thus far. We'll see what happens the rest of the summer.

    MoreBeer Torpedo Keg

Glad to find this thread. I also have been intrigued by these. I do AG batches but kept my original Mr. Beer keg (2.25G~) for small batches. The 2.5G keg would be perfect to just keg instead of bottling. Or if I wanted to keg 1/2 a 5G batch and bottle the other half, this would work too...

    Beer from crystal malt only

I think I will just skip the 90 altogether. I didn't know if 0.5# which would be approximately 5% of the grain bill would make a huge difference or not. I'd rather not risk it. I think I may go straight 2-Row and omit the Crystal...or go to the LHBS and get the 1# of C-40 as the recipe called...

    Beer from crystal malt only

If I substitute 0.5# Caramel 90 for 1# Caramel 40 for an IPA recipe, will it have major effects on the taste? SRM wise will be about the same. I have 90# on hand and would rather use that if possible but don't wanna have that cause odd flavors either.

Pumpkin beers: Discussion, developing recipes, tips tricks, and a good practices

Just tried a couple from the above recipe. I think it needs a little more time but thought it was pretty good. The pumpkin spices are definitely in the aroma and taste. I was hoping for a little more pumpkin flavor but its there faintly in the aftertaste. That is where I am hoping with more...

    Snap Tap

It worked pretty well to follow up. Put the CO2 at 4-5 psi, kept keg in a tub of ice, beer was cold, and depending on who was pouring there was minimal to average amount of foam. Once you figured the technique on how to pour since the tap is at a slightly different angle, foaming wasn't in...

    Snap Tap

I think I will definitely burp it a few times. I have it set at like 14 psi since last Thursday and its about carbonated. Just tried a pint and there is head. Looking to take this to a party on Thursday night. Plan to keep keg in some of kind tub with ice, since it pulls from bottom...

This is what I'm going with, let me know if any major concerns... ALL-GRAIN METHOD: Gonna go the pumpkin pre-mash route. Will dissolve 3 cans (3#) of pumpkin in the strike water and then mash... 7.5# 2-Row 2.5# Munich 0.3# Caramel 90 0.4# Crystal Medium 1# Rice Hulls Adding 1 tsp cinnamon...
