Thanks for your help!! I'm going to take the hydrometer back to the store and tell them what is going on and get the correct one.

I'm not sure if it is finishing hydrometer it has a tralle scale one side and a proof scale on the other. When I bought it at the beer supply store I just asked for a hydrometer.

Its been 15 days and my hydrometer still has no reading - by this I mean it just floats near the bulb of the base; it does not even get close to zero. It is calibrated and will read zero when placed in water. And it is at the correct temperature, etc. I'm doing a porter kit and followed all...
