Hey Wayne, I have made various Blue Moon clones over the past few years. I followed your recipe this time. I trust it will turn out well. Final gravity was 1.052.
I just brewed this recipe 2 weeks ago and am just about to rack it to the secondary this weekend. I did the first decoction inside on the stove and the second decoction outside in the midst of an ice storm here in Toronto. I pitched it onto a yeast cake from a Bohemian Pilsner that is now...
Smells OK? It is in the basement. Very active fermentation from the Belgian wit ale yeast. I have changed the bubbler several times. Transferring to secondary tomorrow then bottling in 10 days or so.......
Thie is my second time making a Blue Moon Clone and the first using this recipe.
I made this recipe on Saturday. I followed the instructions as printed except used 4 Lbs of the Wheat flakes instead of 3 and added 1/3 cup of orange marmalade at flame out. I also zested 5 oranges, 1 red...
OK. That makes sense. I have yet to purchase the hops. Doing that tomorrow but figuring the recipe today. The hops I am buying are Hopunion and I was getting the info on AA% from their website. If the individual package has the actual AA on it then I will be fine.
Thanks!
I am trying to calculate the IBU of a Pilsner recipe. The hop package list the AA as a range,
Example - Check Saaz The listed AA 2.9 - 5.0 %
Similarly the Parle hops have an AA range of 7.0 - 9.5 %
What number do I use in the calculator? Low median or high?
Your thoughts?
