    Measuring IBU using arduino

This is on my list of projects as well. I'm tempted to skip the isooctane and centrifuge steps, and just see what happens with using a pulsed LED array and suitable detector setup. Simplify things. Worst that happens, it does not work. Or poorly.

Alternative to Reflectix - Everbilt Insulation

There was a reddit post a long time back from a guy that compare layers and air gaps using Reflectix. In the end, don't use an air gap was the end result. When in doubt, do the experiment and find out if you can! The posts in question on insulation...

Reflectix - how to you attach it to your kettle?

Overlap the reflectix, silver tape, and some powerful magnets. Just don't use too much tape or the magnetic field will fall off rapidly with the extra tape thickness. Works for me quite well.

    mill gap issues

I've got a crappy mill. I am unable to upgrade to a better mill at this time. In my searching for a solution to fix my solution, I found that others got two o-rings around the size of the rollers, then placed them at either ends of the powered roller. Then you need to put a touch of metal tape...

Boil with Lid on or off

If you need to have the lid partially on to help with the boil, consider using a stainless steel bowl of some specific diameter instead. Fill with known volume of water every time, cover with foil and use this setup every time for consistency. The bowl reduces total surface area which decreases...

    Water volume by weight

We do have to watch our terminology. We understand what the OP means, but it is more nuanced. It comes down to accuracy, precision, and resolution. https://phidgets.wordpress.com/2014/05/20/accuracy-precision-and-resolution-theyre-not-the-same/ However, that is just fun reading and just some...

    Water volume by weight

That is a simple matter of weighing out 4 separate batches of 5 kg of water, assuming the scale is at least semi-accurate in this weight range. Really, all you care about is the scale is weight is constantly repeatable in its weighing capability. It does not matter if it is off by 100g or so...

    Difficulty breathing after milling grains

Happened to me every time. I now use a respiratory mask with filters when milling grains, and when dumping the grains into the mash. Otherwise it triggers my asthma for a couple days afterwards. That super fine dust is nasty stuff.

    Homebrew taste

Start super simple. No need to spend lots of money in this initial testing phases. Depending on where you are, your city or town may have a recent water report available online. That will get you some rough baseline information to start with for your water. Camden tablet for chloramine. I...

POSSIBLE NEW PRODUCT FOR CORNY KEGS

There is the soon to be Plaato Keg system that uses load cells to measure the weight of each keg. Supposed to be accurate in fluid measurements. They can even me used to measure the weight of the CO2 tank to monitor the weight, so one could see if there was a leak of some period of time. But at...
