    Electrical question

This is my 9th 110V brewery build. All have been built to use standard 110V outlet. ALL boil 6 gallons just fine. The OP was a simple electrical question...Not a debate on the voltage or wattage.

    Electrical question

I am building another brewery. This will be a 5 gallon single vessel system. I plan to use one 1000 watt element to control Mash temps and then use both 1000 watt elements to boil.

Midwest Supplies- Simply Stout Extract kit

I think that you should brew the Stout as per the kits instructions. This will give you a good baseline. You will have a better idea of what additions if any that the kit will tolerate. Remember that "additions" can dramatically change body and IBU's. Get a good idea of what you want in a recipe...

    Midwest's Simply Beer IPA

my thought was that Centennial usually has a little higher alpha acid than the Cascade would… so using the Centennial at 15 would raise the IBU's in addition to the flavor profile. Cascade is a great late addition hop so lets keep it at 5 minutes. Really a whirlpool or Dry Hop of 1 or 2 ounces...

    Fermenter Ideas

http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=103395&catid=626 These Life Latch buckets have a convenient screw on lid with gasket. They are Food Grade and come in 2.5, 3.5, 5, and 6.5 gallon sizes. I use the 6.5 gallon version and love it. I just drilled a 1/2 hole in the lid and added...

First Time Recipes - What Was everyone's first time?

40 years ago my Grandfather ask me to help brew his Pilsner. We ground the grains with a meat grinder. Mashed in a huge Crock. He did what I think was a protein rest by using hot water from the tap and 15 minutes later adjusting it up to Mash temp with boiling water. He grew his hops in the...

    New Zealand hop help

You should Google "Kiwi Express" A very simple recipe. I really enjoyed that beer. it uses Nelson Sauvin, Moteuka and Azaka. (If I remember correctly) You could do a little different version of that.

    Midwest's Simply Beer IPA

My buddy brews this kit often. It is pretty good. More of a Pale Ale or sessionable IPA if there is such a thing. This is how we changed it; change the Centennial hop to 15 minutes, keep the Cascade at 5 minutes, and dry hop with 1 ounce of Cascade. these small tweeks made it a much better beer...

Simcoe, Citra, Amarillo hop addiction help

Citra, Amarillo, and Simcoe are too beautiful to waste as bittering additions!!! You said that you have some Warrior...so I would bitter with the Warrior and use the beautiful hops at the end of the boil. Those hops pair so well together that a combined late addition and dry hop would yield a...

Need help dressing up a "too simple" stout

You should be aware that adding additional fermentables to the recipe will reduce your IBU's and the hop profile. Be prepared to adjust your hop quantities and schedule. The LME most likely already contains ALL of the grains we have discussed here. If you are looking to boost the body of the kit...

    Ball lock beer line cleaner?

I built one like "day trippr" posted. It works great! The sprayer was about $10, the brass fitting was about $3, and I used an old keg fitting that I had laying around. The threads between the brass fitting and the keg fitting are not a perfect match so I used some teflon tape to seal it well...

    Mash tun losing 5+degrees

I experienced that problem when mashing smaller batches. I determined that the loss was created from the larger vacant head space in the cooler. I solved my problem by laying one of these on top of the Mash. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001B16Z0G/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20
