    stalled

Ok, so I think you are saying, get a clean demijohn and add yeast with sugar mixture and a pint of the stalled wine and see what happens. If it starts to ferment give it a day then add another pint and continue until it is all in the new demijohn. Is this correct?

    stalled

I would presume somewhere on here is the information I need but I don't know how to access it yet so; I had a problem with the wine I have/am making because during a cold snap my wife and children left the doors open, this was three weeks ago. I have since made a warm box in my workshop so that...

    Oops

I think its why the corks are popping, I remember being vocal about doord being shut, but they are in bottles. There are six demijohns which contain most of the fruit from my small garden, blackcurrant blackberry apple and rosehip. There is one rosehip doing well and one not, both from the same...

    Oops

I have to ask this next question because I am a little worried, and I suppose the result of the popping corks shows why I need to ask it. Can I or how can I restart a stalled wine? As we get into Autumn here in the UK we get temperature fluxuations that can have the central heating cicking in...

    Oops

Hi bernardsmith This is the batch I reported in here on the 1 July, the one that frothed so much it covered the understairs and most of the hallway with foam and gunky sticky mess. I think I was a little impatient, but that's me all over. As for stableizing it I didn't, I thought it had stopped...

    Oops

LOL I like rum, but it isn't worth an eye, but I can get another cork out without loosing an eye lol. I know everything was clean, my missus complains mightily when I brew because she thinks I make so much mess, which I do but I clean up after to get brownie points. I will open another bottle...

    Oops

I am here again but only because I heard a cork go 'POP'! when I looked to see what had happened, I saw one cork at the end of the hallway and the bottle fizzing like mad. I had made a Christmas mead (I hope I still have), to rescue it should I decant it back into a demijohn (with the rest of...

    hydrometer

Well at least we agree about the 11% so my math is OK, The hydrometer you showed is different to mine, mine does not have beer written on it although it doesn't show the detail like yours did, you can see the markings hovering the curser over it...

    hydrometer

I do wish I had a camera to take a photo of the thing. When the sugar is all but fermented out the hydrometer sinks down, there are words written on the lining paper inside the thing, one of them is "bottle". I don't know how mant types of hydromiter there are, there do seem to be a few out...

    hydrometer

Hi everyone, again, and a special hello to Mr bernardsmith for all the help you have given me, well I am at it again and for some reason I have had a total blank on how this little begger (hydrometer) works. Ok i have been busy with making something to help get me through to next season plus...

    How much

LOL I need to be a chemist, Thanks bernardsmith, I know you know your stuff because you have explained and helped me before with other problems, the only thing is I am unable to afford these test kits, I can get a hydroponic PH test meter from amazon for £10, but in an overcrowded house where...

    How much

How do I check acidity and what do I do if its to high or to low? I had a go at this three years ago, I made 1 gallon with about 4Lb of rosehips, it was a verry good young wine/infant wine, it didn't last long it was scrummy. I did notice that this time when I boiled them they smelled of stewed...

    How much

Just a quick one guys, I managed to get 3.9 Kilo of rosehips when cleaned and toped, I was planning on two gallons/demijohns which would give me about 4LB of rosehips per gallon, dose that sound about right or do I need to go hunting round for more?

Newbie question - Can I juice my apples then....

WOW all that fruit, lol I would be in heaven with all that, gooseberry wine apricot wine cherry wine and plum, wonderfull. I have planted a fruit hedge between myself and my neighbour, with cherry pear apple with blackberry and blueberry bushes to fill in the gaps. It is only 15 yards long and...
