WOW your wife did a Great job ... it looks nice. I have never used a wooden mash paddle ... BUT i do use a wooden paddle for my crawfish (it's a Louisiana thing) ... Do not treat it. Use natural. Been using the same paddle for 10 years now and I do about 8-10 boils each year. I store it in a...

    Pellet Hops Filtering - Bazooka?

Thx Lizard. "Cold Break" I would plan on removing it before then ... even with aroma hops steeping for 10 mins at flameout ...I'd have to take it out before I put my chiller to the wort ... unless I'm not thinking straight.

Anyone have any experience with the Blichmann EasyBrew system? I know there are a million opinions on Blinchmann and the price and what not ... I read that all the time. I'm looking for someone with real experience on this system. Do you like K-Rims? Is the efficiency as high as they claim...

    Pellet Hops Filtering - Bazooka?

Picking up a 15 gal Megapot 1.2 ... Thx govner ... just ordered the 4"x10" 400 micro SS basket from Arbor. I even asked them if they could quote me on a SS brew-in-a-basket to fit this pot ... They should be able to make me one with a grove in the front to pass the ball valve and thermo (which...

    Pellet Hops Filtering - Bazooka?

I'm adding a ball valve to my kettle. At present I auto-siphon. Obviously hop residue is the first thing that comes to mind w/ using a ball valve. The bulkhead feed thru has a 1/2 NPT female connection inside the pot. Does a bazooka tube work well? Thoughts, ideas, experiences ... FYI I...

    Extended Boil Times

Thanks all ... Really good info. The only Lagers I have done are American Darks (Shiner Bock fan, please don't judge me LOL) ... I mostly do Wheat Ales and Cream Ales with Honey because my with likes a light lawnmower beer and my DIPA's well if it comes out on the darker side, so be it. I'm...

    Extended Boil Times

Thanks *hero. One question. How do brewers prevent wort darkening of the lighter lagers? If extend boil darkens the wort but an extended boil is required to drive off DMS, how do they balance the two in a light lager?

    Extended Boil Times

I remember reading a post a few months back about extending the boil time past 60 mins can help achieve a dry crisp finish. I know that this is the desire in some styles and I happen to like a clean crisp finish to a lighter style like a Pils. Is it True that an extended boil can deliver a...
