i make beer because i'm cheap. my wife bought me a mr. beer kit in feb 2010. when i found out that the refill kits cost more than a case of fat tire @ costco, i decided i had to move on to something that would allow me to make beer cheaper than i could buy it. rather than buy one of those expensive kits from a LHBS, i bought a $2 bucket from home depot and a 4 gallon pot from winco. however, i realised that i could make beer even cheaper if i switched to all grain. so i did. found a free cooler on craigslist and made an 8 gallon pot at work for $30 worth of stainless. then it dawned on me that if i bought my grains in bulk, i could make beer even cheaper! thanks to craigslist, i can now make beer for ~25 cents a bottle. most of my equipment is homemade, which aids in my cheapness. one of the few benefits of being a metal fabricator
