Jkoegel how toasted were your oak chips? I had an Oaked cider the other day and REALLY appreciated it. Got some American white oak staves kicking around I might toast up.
We generally have cordial, you can get some cold fruit drink concentrates that are designed to be mixed. But they generally don't taste great. Usually they are only orange or orange & mango. Might have to have a better look round the supermarket next time I'm there.
Otherwise all our juice...
Can you guys detail what a "can of lemonade" is? We have nothing equivalent in Australian that I know of?
Same we don't have cans of apple concentrate :(
Hey Everyone,
I know the plastic vs glass debate has raged endlessly and if I had the $$ at the moment I would go buy a heap of glass but I don't.
I am trying to make a number of 10L brews (trying various cider ideas) in a very tight space. So I have found these 15L water bottles in my...
Could you use S-04 as the yeast for this? With 3.5lbs of honey?
I am aiming for medium sweetness. Imagine maybe a moscato or lexia wine?
I would be very happy with 12-13% as in the original JOAM.
I added sugar to the bottling bucket. A couple of hundred grams. I can't remember exactly how much. I need to find my brew diary lol. But was a few hundred grams to approx 18L. The stuff was definitely still sweet when I was drinking it!
I made some cider a while back and have had a serious problem.
The damn stuff didnt carb up!
I was using safale S-04, I got the ferment to approx 1.15 SG then racked into a bottling bucket and bottled away. The thing I did notice is that my yeast had all settled and the cider I racked was...
I used blueberrys in a can. They are pastuerised already for long storage.
The thing I did differnetly to others in this thread is I put my blueberries in blender and bascially made it into a watery paste. Then I put all into a 5L demijohn (or other steril container) with pectinase for...
I took blueberrys in a can and blended them and added pectinaze. Threw it onto a apple cider that was 2 days established.
This post shows the result so far. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f32/first-brew-first-cider-302244/#post3782934
I am planning to stop the ferment at 1.015 or so and prime...
Updates:
Cider is bottled 48 bottles of lovely golden drop. Nice combination of tart and sweet. Very light in the mouth. I'm afraid I am going to drink far too much of it, too quickly. Stopped at 1.010 today. Added 125grams of raw sugar to prime. Will start checking for carbonation tonight...
Thanks for the comments. I was thinking about the ice cubes and I will give it a go. I have been running a fan continously on the fermenter, with a shirt over the fermenter dipped in the water for some evaporative cooling.
I am planning on grabbing a heap of juice and doing a bunch of 1gal...
I am thinking getting 2x 425gram cans of blueberries in sugar syrup and running them through a blender and then giving em a squirt of pectinaze. Let it sit for a few hrs and mixing with 1 gal of my brew. If I bottle at about 1.015 or so will I still have a good blueberry flavor left behind? If I...
