Hey folks,
I'm looking to brew a hefeweizen from this recipe and would like some feedback:
5.5 pounds wheat malt
5.5 pounds pilsener malt
0.7 oz Hallertauer Mittelfruh (4.6% AA) for 60 min.
I'm also curious if I could also squeeze a partigyle wheat beer from this grain bill...
The guy also mentions to squeeze the grains in the hop steeping method. I thought this was discouraged because it releases tannins and other unwanted flavors to the beer. Maybe specialty grains are the exception to this rule?
Either way I may have to give this a go if I ever use a large...

Well I topped off the batch and went through with the hops schedule. It's now about 24 hours later and a healthy krausen has formed. My final gravity reading was 1.054 so I was a bit off the target 1.069, but as long as the batch turns out drinkable I'll be pleased. Thanks for the encouraging...
I didn't get to the hops schedule yet, so I was thinking of topping off the beer to 6 gallons again and starting the boil over and going ahead with the hops schedule. My smack pack has been activated and swelling for about 14 hours now (I bagged it in case it decided to explode during the day)...
