question about travelling with corny kegs...

Id like to start bringing corny kegs to parties this fall. I usually naturally carbonate so a little more yeast sediment forms in my kegs. My question is, if I bring a warm keg to a party, and chill it for a few hours, will that be enough time to cool the whole keg and pour clear yeast free...

    Safabrew wb-06 fermentation issues?

I brewed my first ever AG American Wheat beer. The Brew day went great. Hit my target OG right on the nose. I rehydrated a package of Safabrew wb-06 and pitched it. Fermentation started nice and quick. There was a good deal of blowoff as I used a 5 gallon carboy. Fermentation the ceased for a...

difference between s-04 and US-05? (which should I use?)

please explain...My local HBS owner told me just to measure out however much I needed and just pitch. Is it as simple as taking from the primary, and pitching to a new wort?

difference between s-04 and US-05? (which should I use?)

Oh no ****. Well that's great to know. I feel stupid :). According to Mr. Malty ill need 132 ml of slurry which I converted to 4.5 oz. Does this seem correct to those who have pitched slurry before? My max OG will be 1.070.

difference between s-04 and US-05? (which should I use?)

I am an IDIOT. The Slury I have available is 1056 NOT s-o5. So its a tossup between 1056 slurry and s-04 starter.....sorry for the confusion passedpawn.

difference between s-04 and US-05? (which should I use?)

Tomorrow I am going to brew a pretty hoppy IPA ( think Hopdevil). I have washed s04 that I can make a starter with, or I can use slurry for an IPA that ill be racking today. My question is what would be the best yeast to use? Should I use the slurry for convenience or should I make the starter...

Tomorrow I will be brewing my first All Grain American Wheat beer. This is my third attempt at AG brewing. First attempt was messy, missed my target OG, but wound up with a GREAT beer. Second attempt was 2 days ago and it went really well. Could have used a couple more points in my starting...

    loose/light/fluffy yeast cake?

I brewed a 5 gallon batch of 60 min. IPA clone yesterday. All went well, but I am a little bit worried about the appearence of my fermentation. I made a starter using one pint of water, 5 tbsp xlight DME, and some ranched and washed 1187 yeast I've had in my fridge for about a month. I let the...

First yeast starter - no signs of fermentation

Do you just decant most of the liquid and leave a little behind to swirl the cake into suspension before pitching? Also, when making a particular size starter (eg: 1 liter, 2 liter) what defines the size? Is it amount of wort?

How are you storing your hops?

Nice! I currently have a few pounds double ziplocked. I think I'm going to weigh them out into ounces and put then into little baggies, then double freezer bag the little baggies.

How are you storing your hops?

A Google search produced some good results, but most of which mentioned pricey vaccum dealers that cost $100 or more. Any good suggestions that are a bit lighter on the wallet? Thanks!
