    Raleigh pubs?

What do you want to spend? The best Mexican you can find is a place called Dos Taquitos. Their entrees probably run from $14 to $19. Very good stuff, not just combinations of cheese, tortillas, and beans. If you happen to be a vegetarian there is a place called The Remedy which is quite good...

Anybody have a good Partial Mash Chocolate Stout recipe?

I made the AHB Chocolate Holiday Stout from the extract kit once, and my brother really liked it (so did I!). His friend wants to make it, but I can't find my recipe sheet - bad note keeping at the time. If it's not gross mis-conduct, could someone please post the recipe for the extract kit...

    Please delete.

EAC's picking on a noob. That's not nice. That's how we get acronyms like 'EAC.'

    Budweiser American Ale Clone

It's funny though. I listened to the Basic Brewing from March of 2007 on Aging with Oak, and the expert they had on the phone was the head brewer of New Glarus Brewing. I can't recall his exact job trajectory that brought him to start his own company, but I do remember that he said he'd worked...

    Precipitate Potassium Sorbate with Calcium

So, my parents are bringing me a few gallons of cider, but unfortunately, it's got Potassium sorbate in it. Reading a liitle bit on this, I don't think my yeast will be able to reproduce in this case. But reading a little bit more about K-sorbate, I found (here...

New Paltz NY cider -Jenkins and Lueken

My mom was just up at Jenkins and Leuken's orchard store and saw someone buying a good 25 gallons of cider in carboys. I was wondering if the culprit was on these boards. And what she paid for the cider. If not, oh well. And for everyone else, apparently Jenkins and Leuken's does sell...

Labels that make you pass up a beer

Bottles? Pass me a can of Oskar Blues any day. And personally, I love the messages that the canners write on the bottoms of them.

Thesaurus fail, but I believe in you HBT!

Onanistic was my initial thought for this thread too. Added benefit, it's named for a biblical character... Onan. And god killed him for it. So, there you go.

    Raleigh pubs?

Adding a few to this, as it's old: Edenton's is now Big Boss, and the pub is called Horniblows. Boylan Bridge Brewpub: great views of the trainyard. Aviator in Fuquay-Varina.

How to sweat connections onto wort chiller

Heh, I've already got two clamps on it. It leaked before, so I took both off, cut the tip of the hose off and reattached it. And it still leaks. Hence, being at the end of my rope. The sweat solder if going to fix this and I will have peace of mind for eternity... I hope.

How to sweat connections onto wort chiller

Hey y'all, I've got a copper immersion chiller that I am about to toss through the window. Ever since I got this from my LHBS it has leaked on the intake. I thought I had it fixed finally (with some pre-brew testing) and used it last night. But the damn thing still leaked at the intake hose...

Results from juice, yeast and sugar experiments

That's awesome. If you don't mind me asking, what do you pay per gallon of cider? I went to the closest orchard here a few weeks ago and they wanted $9 per gallon. My parents live in upstate NY where apple growing is/was one of the main industries and I think Cider there is between $4 and...

    Brewing meets camping technology

I thought I'd post this here, since it might be a noob-ish question. If you've ever been to and REI, or looked at camping equipment, you might have seen a product like the "JetBoil" camp cooking system. What intrigues me about this system is the similarity of it to me using my turkey fryer...

Belgian Blond Ale SWMBO Slayer - Belgian Blonde

Well, I've read this whole thread, and it this recipe is definitely going in the queue. But I do have a question about fermentation temperature. I've noticed that it was mentioned a handful of time that people are fermenting this for a good month at 60-65 deg. F. What would the consequences...

    Robbed!

Yeah. The whole situation sucks. I hadn't considered using my Homeowners to try to cover it. But my brother said he was down at the beach (Carolina Beach) and he was watching a kid go down the street from car to car looking for ****. And everytime a car came by he'd run and hide. My Brother...
