Been wanting to start for a while

Wow thank you for all the replies and birthday wishes. I forgot to check back because all week I've been studying for midterms and then I had my party this weekend...I moved out of my parents house a couple months back, and I'm in an apartment so I have just the essentials right now. I'd have to...

Been wanting to start for a while

Today is my 21st birthday, and I've had a taste for beer for a while as well as an interest to brew my own. Now that I can finally legally brew my own, I just wanted to get beginner advice and the approximate start up cost for all equipment. I generally have a taste for things like Killian's and...

    Hello from Southern VA

I am 21.. Anyway I went to HBUSA and they were really nice. I only ended up buying a glass carboy and airlock, I will probably just start with mead. Otherwise I might try the Mr. Beer kit as an introduction so I won't drop the whole big $$$ bomb before I know if this hobby is right for me.

    Hello from Southern VA

Okay thank you very much. I will definitely read a lot on howtobrew. I will probably get a kit from Austin Brew then, thanks for the money saving tips. :P it sounds complicated, but hopefully it will be worth it.

I'm completely 100% ignorant to home brewing, so pardon all the questions. With all-grain, what additional materials would I need to make or purchase? I would purchase a...

    Hello from Southern VA

I noticed the equipment can be a pretty big hit. There is a place nearby me called Homebrew USA that sells a kit for I think $100. They had different levels (like basic, plus, premium, etc) of kits and I don't know exactly which I'm going to go for.

    Hello from Southern VA

I am very interested in making my own beer but am trying to keep it cheap. Right now I bought a DIY Juice to Alcohol kit from ThinkGeek. I think it will probably taste horrible and want to learn about actual home brewing. Some welches grape juice with turbo yeast doesn't cut it for me. Would...
