Thank you to this thread for giving me the courage and resources to build my cold room.
It is much smaller scale but perfect for my needs and space. I took an existing interior garage wall and built a 3 X 5 X 7 cold room. It is cooled by an 8000 BTU air conditioner.
I use a Rancor...
I know this is a 5 year old thread. Wondering how it worked out for you? I'm looking to add drain pipe manifold to my walk in cooler. It will have 90 degree elbows at both ends to allow air flow to keep lines chilled.
I also just brewed the star anise stout as a so cal winter warmer. Getting ready to add the star anise to a13 gal batch.
Wondering how yours turned out and how much anise you added.
I know this is an old thread.
I forgot my 30 minute hop addition in my brown. I'm pressure cooking wort tomorrow for my starters so thought I would throw in a jar of brown with hops in it. Because of the pressure I'm wondering if it will maintain flavor and aroma or just be a bittering hop.
Heat tape was the recommendation of my electrician. I was planning on the coolbot because they have been so instrumental in my planning for my cooler.
Your thoughts on this are greatly appreciated because I hadn't thought about the required extra outlets needed and not sure that he had...

I sent an email to Ron from Coolbot, what a great resource he is. if anyone is looking to build a cooler there is great information on the Coolbot website. i'm figuring just from the information that i...
I've been researching building a cooler in my garage to replace my 5 tap keezer and full size frig. The cooler would be 36" x 63" x 7' high. It would also act as a temperature control for an existing wine closet that is currently cooled by a fan blowing cold air from the keezer which results in...
I did a side by side tasting of my Old World Pious vs Westmalle 8 and Rochefort 10. I had brewed the Old World on March 30 and then bottled in July, so still a little young in the bottle. So it should continue to improve.
Westmalle 8 was the least favorite. I thought it had almost a root...
So I made this with the cold steeping back on June 22 and just drank it for the first time last night. Incredible! All of the coffee and chocolate flavor but without the astringency that comes from the black patent. I highly recommend trying this for yourself and I will be doing it again...
Do check it out. Jeff Bagby, former director of brewing operations at Pizza Port will be hosting the VIP tent and it will have great specialty and hard to get brews from around the country. Definitely worth the extra to go VIP.
I'll be in the VIP pouring some wonderful brew.
