I've been trying to figure out why I have such a low efficiency on my AG brewing when I do fly sparge - consistently in the 60's. I was then re-reading Kal's brewday at http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/ and noticed that he also checks PH of the sparge water and adjusts when needed...
FWH = first wort hops. Usually done when doing all grain as you are transferring wort from mash tun to boiler. I really don't understand how FWH would apply to an extract brew...
Been drinking / sharing too much - down to 2 out of 6 taps. Have a stout, IPA, and Saison fermenting. Brewing a blonde on Sunday in a desperate attempt to max it out...
Sounds a lot like string cheese which is very popular in Wisconsin. Comes in ropes that can be peeled off in strings and is fairly salty. I believe I've seen a smoked version as well.
Brewing a dry stout today, dry hopping an english IPA and a Saison, and putting a second coat of high temperature paint on my new brew stand ( not in use yet)...
Now that looks interesting. Does that reduce the heat transfer to the rest of the stand? Are you concerned about rust? I was also thinking of using some old stainless steel BBQ grates but concerned about the weight..

The Old Mildew Handle is actually a gift from the wife who is from Wisconsin (It was her Grandmother's favorite beer). I use it to indicate which of my beers I am the least pleased with ;-)
