I have two Pico Cs, so my appetite for this machine isn't that high. However, the Steam Hops looks interesting, and look like they could take the boil step out of my process. That would give me more time for a muti-step mash, with longer rest times, which might improve my efficiency. If I did...

    Arduino fg/alcohol sensors?

I did some looking at this once upon a time. What I determined (theoretically, at least) was that the easiest way to determine OG/FG with an Arduino or any other microcontroller was to use a pair of pressure sensors. If I remember the theory correctly, if you know the pressure at two points...

    Seeking advice (ferm chamber)

I've never really thought that the chest freezer was optimal. I've been looking for something so that I don't have to heave 5 gallon batches over the edge. Look at this ( https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/minifridge-fermentation-chamber-337402/ ) - I think he's got a good design. -Medvitz

    Minifridge Fermentation Chamber

That is awesome..... I need to make me one What was the size/model of the original fridge vs the size of the new chamber....

    Fermentor Geometry

    Might be worth reading.... thanks

    Suggestions on where to start

For my 2 cents, start with the environmental monitoring (volume, temp, etc). Once you have that down, move to valves, then pumps. Do the heat control last. Language will most likely be C if your using a microcontroller.

    Fermentor Geometry

Sorry for the delay - was out of town. @maida7. Those are about $40 at usplastics. I'm also looking at this (http://www.tank-depot.com/productdetails.aspx?part=85-1531WH) it's a bit more expensive @ 56, but has npt ports. The idea is to never pick one up full. pump or gravity in and out.

    Fermentor Geometry

@firebirdude. You've a lot of good points, some of which were already swimming around my head. I'm considering everything right now: plastic, glass, better bottles - and seeing where they stack up when compared to my space, and what I intend to brew. My current thought was to see how much...

    Fermentor Geometry

So... from the link below, these are FDA compliant. (unless I'm misreading something). http://www.denhartogindustries.com/application-guidelines/materials-information/

    Fermentor Geometry

Thanks for the quick reply. That was pretty much what I was thinking, but wasn't sure. I think these are food grade, but I haven't validated as of yet. I'll update once I have.

    Fermentor Geometry

I'm planning out a new brew space. There's not a lot of room so I was looking at various option to maximize the space available. One of the things that I was considering was plastic tanks for fermentation. I was curious if/how the geometry of the tank might impact the fermentation process...

Building a Shed. Need some help

I'm in a similar situation. Just put in a 12' x 16' shed. Installing the 60A subpanel now. Already regretting not putting in 'attic' ventilation up front. The brew bench will be set up below a window that I can open during brewing, at which point I'll take notice of the condensation - maybe...

    Raspberry Pi Brewhouse controller?

I was looking more towards this board (http://www.mini-box.com/pico-SAM9G45-X ). It'll run Android or Linux, and there's a 4.3" and 7" TFT touchscreen available..... -Medvitz

    Making the wet bar official

I like this.... something similar might work in my space.... Quick question(s) though, what's the capacity of the mini frige, and the size of the keg box. Also, what temp are you able to maintain in the box? Thanks Medvitz

Using Cocoa Nibs in the Mash?

A local brewery used nibs in the mash for a chocolate stout. The chocolate flavor was fabulous, but the head retention left a lot to be desired.
