    Local Bulk Honey Pricing

    I just put mine into secondary for neutralizing the yeast. I tasted it and it is super dry and about 15% according to the calculator. Going to back sweeten tomorrow and bottle for aging. It's pretty stout.

    I am just going to bottle as it is only one gallon. That is my test run since it is my first. Just didn't want a pop off when I bottle. I ordered the sorb and meta.

    My mead finally cleared and I know I need to neutralize before I back sweeten What is a specific brand that yall have had luck with or like? I will be ordering it, so I will have to wait a bit till I can bottle. Should be about 14% if that makes a difference. Thanks for the help.

    So I read the BOMM thread and i just tried to take a reading. sterilized my equipment and dropped the hydrometer in the carboy. Went straight to the bottom. I am assuming I need a correct container for sampling? Filled up the head space and I am going to let it sit till clear. I will back...

    I guess I should say I used 3# of honey from a local apiary, one gallon of spring water, added strawberries, added raisins for yeast nutrient, and then added champagne yeast. Being 1st time, I forgot the OG, so I will not really know its final. It is still bubbling away and of course cloudy...

    I made a small batch of Mead for my first attempt. It is still pushing through the airlock, so i know it is still working. I was wondering when I bottle it, are there any additives that need to be added for ageing? Sorry for the newbie question.

    Yeah, honey is expensive in most stores. Having the honey farm right up the road is nice for me. I buy all the honey for our fire station and several others, lol. They are addicts. The owners said i could by a 330# container if i wanted.
