    Water profile adjustment

Ok guys. Thank you very much. I will try to extract the best of what you advise me, even if it is still a bit difficult for the beginner I am. See you after brewing my next one.

    Water profile adjustment

It is more or less what I was contemplating. I thought of adding CaCl2 in order to bring a bit more Cl (as SO4 seems dominating Cl hence strong astringency) and to compensate for the loss of Ca due to CaCO3 precipitation.

To be accurate the hardness is 19°f (French degree) i.e. 76 mg/l as Ca but I don't know anything about Mg. It is considered as moderately hard. Should I consider this value as sufficient regarding your remark?

    Water profile adjustment

Thanks for your help. I am brewing "all grain" and I try to make a moderately strong belgian ale. The first one I brewed is not that bad except to much bitterness. As I told previously answering an other guy I will explore the RO*water alternative.

Thanks for your help. I live in France and the word for chlorine in French is "chlore". For chloride it is "chlorure". Apparently the report has changed since last time I visited their site. Now it states - Chlore libre (Free chlorine): 0.11mg/l - Chlore total (Total chlorine): 0.14mg/l I...

    Water profile adjustment

I am new to brewing. I plan to brew my second batch in a few days and I would like to benefit from my first experience. During the first batch, I discovered that my wort was very astringent and bitter. For bitterness it was mainly due to an error in hop proportion and time. The beer was very...

    Volume increase when introducing grain

In fact, I want to know if my mash tun is big enough. But according to the chart you directed me to, and if I understand it correctly, it seem that 24 lbs of grain increase the volume of the wort by roughly 2.24 gal.

    Volume increase when introducing grain

Hi, I have trouble finding an answer to this trivial question*: I suppose I have 24 liters of water in which I introduce 6kg of malt (crushed). What is the new volume in the kettle?

Too much yeast at to high temperature with probably not enough oxygenation.

    To be accurate, the yeast is Safbrew T-58 temp. range 12°C - 25°C ideally 15°C - 20°C.

Thank you . Good to know everything is not lost! I am going to look at how to lower the temperature a bit. The kit is this one https://www.saveur-biere.com/en/beer-kit/7117-beer-kit-brew-your-own-pils.html

Too much yeast at to high temperature with probably not enough oxygenation.

Hi, I am new to beer brewing and I just started yesterday with my first kit (4 liters) . I was a bit anxious about cleanliness and temperature control and it can explain why I accumulated at least 3 mistakes: -1. I didn't wait the necessary time to allow the wort to cool down. My sink is a bit...
