    Help With My Sick Keezer

Thanks - I'm retired so have time to mess with this. I found strapping it to the keg had a 15 hour cycle time with the compressor running 3 hours. With the koozie and 32 oz. can I'm getting about a 7 hour cycle with 1 hour compressor run time. Both with 2F differential temp.

    Help With My Sick Keezer

Can't believe I've been using a chest freezer keezer for probably 25-30 years and just let the controlling thermometer dangle in the freezer. You got me thinking so I had a piece of that 1/4" thick silver insulation and I just covered up the thermometer with that and in the past 12 hours is...

    Help With My Sick Keezer

Could you share how you insulated the probe to the keg? I have a large freezer too - same if not a little larger than yours and have room for a water keg. I duct taped the probe to the keg of beer right now and it was at 29F (nice cold crash)! Even though it was controlling to an air temp of...

    Help With My Sick Keezer

So far so good with a recharge. I'm using an older Ranco controller. I noticed my compressor is cycling every 20 minutes. I saw yours was much greater time. I looked and your temp has a 10F range and mine is only 1F (think it's set at 2F). What are your thoughts on this? - thanks

    Help With My Sick Keezer

Yeah - I'll have to keep on the lookout at my local Lowe's. Every now and then they have an isle of clearance appliances. Right now my keezer is at 33F. But it may have a leak big enough to cause me pain soon.

    Help With My Sick Keezer

I just turned 69 and even a few years back it was difficult to put a full corney into the keezer. I started counter pressure filling my kegs - no more heavy lifting. There are many refrigerant kits available but I just used this one...

    Help With My Sick Keezer

Thanks - I read your link as text. Ha - would have saved me an hour or so of internet searching if I clicked on it. Never thought about air in the fill hoses. Will be sure to purge that. Thanks

    Help With My Sick Keezer

Last night I thought about it a little more and you are probably correct about the refrigerant. So, I did some looking and found you can purchase a device called a bullet piercing adapter to tap the compressor low pressure line. Then you use automotive hoses and R134a. My freezer even has the...

    Help With My Sick Keezer

Thanks - I checked the run capacitor and it's fine. Checked the compressor for shorts and none. The relay seems fine too. Just as a last resort I ordered a relay/cap for around $15 and will try it tomorrow. The freezer just seems to be cold in the front top. I suspect you are right about the...

    Help With My Sick Keezer

My keezer has served me well. Yesterday I pressure transferred two beers into kegs. The lid was open for maybe an hour but nothing different than what I have done in the past. I did notice a large hunk of ice near the front/top/inside of the freezer. I knocked it off and closed the lid and moved...

Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

Thanks to all for the information. One other thing I did before planting this season was add some brown clay soil from a drainage trench project. Could this have caused this?

Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

Thanks for the great information. Could this be birds though? I can look at the tomato one day when it's changing color and then the next when I go to pick it it has this look. None of the green/unripened ones have this.

Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

I've been gardening a long time but never saw this happen to tomatoes (see pic). The green tomatoes look great but when they get ready to pick I have seen the decay on the first four tomatoes so far - none for me yet! Please help - thanks

Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

Need some help with making tomato sauce. Been canning whole tomatoes for years. Last year I purchased a strainer and boiled down the tomatoes to can sauce. When I went to use the sauce it has a bitter or acidic taste. Man, I have lots invested in 20 quarts of the sauce. Is there a way to save...
