Add additional yeast before bottling in Hennepin Clone

Mind sharing the recipe? Love Hennepin and have been debating doing that on my next Saison.

Anyone got any Ostrich and/or Alligator Recipes?

Never used either but waiting for some good feedback as well as my butcher has both. I'm guessing Creamygoodness might have some ideas.

    Bottle Bomb Tester

Safety goggles in order for Pismo! If Pismo is like my girls, he'll be trying to get in the action shot. I know you don't have a webcam, but take a picture every couple milliseconds and you might get lucky catching it! :) Should have added some hops so it would skunk - then you would have a...

    competition popularity?

Never done it, but will be in the next year. I'm looking forward to critical review of my beers. I brew well enough that I get praised by family and friends - needing some more 'critical' review to see where I'm at and what else I can do to improve. I'm also at a stage where recipe creation...

    First beer underway!!!!!

Yes - I'd recommend a starter for future batches. You can take the recipes OG and use the calculator below to tell you how many packs you need or how big of a starter. Slightly over and under is OK - it gets you in the right ballpark. http://www.mrmalty.com/calc/calc.html Groundwater temps...

    First beer underway!!!!!

I like the grolsch bottles, but that's just because I hate bottling. Either would work fine if you have a capper and I've done both. If you can get your fermenter in a water bath a little cooler that would be a good thing. The reason i asked as you had rapid startup on a single pack of yeast...

    First beer underway!!!!!

Congratulations. What temperaature are you fermenting at and with what specific yeast? Most ale yeasts are best at the low to mid 60's so you'll want to keep it cool during fermentation. What temperature did you pitch your yeast? In nearly all cases pitching a little cooler or at your target...

Battered Boar brewing - Lions Tooth Floret

Haven't had Working Man yet but it's in the list of 'to try' I really didn't get any sweet from them that I could tell, more of an herbal bitterness. Hard to pick it out and they definitely used them subtly in the beer from what I can tell.

Does no one mash wort for starters? advice please

That's something that I'm planning on taking more advantage of too. I've always got a quart or two at the bottom of the kettle that previously had gone to waste. Didn't think of the freezing and then boiling later which is probably another method of avoiding botulism toxin. Not sure on when...

Does no one mash wort for starters? advice please

You are training yeast to eat sucrose and not maltose - not a good idea. It takes some work and isn't for everyone - I'd recommend the DME route for those not brewing often.
