    pumpkin ale

    I did an all grain version a couple of weeks ago and used 60 oz of canned pumpkin in the mash. I added 1 pound of rice hulls and had no issues with a stuck mash.

    Using PEX tubing in Mash

    I built my cooler MLT using the PEX tubing and have done 4 AG batches without a problem. I cut the slits in the tubing with a dremel and it was good to go.

    THE pumpkin beer thread

    You can make an extract by soaking pumpkin pie spice in vodka for a couple of weeks. Then add a little at a time to the keg until you get the right taste.

    First all grain water

    My water softener has a bypass valve that can be activated. That way I don't water my lawn with softened water. For brewing I just activate the bypass run a load of laundry or dishes to clear out the pipes and I have my non-softened water to brew with.

    Brewery names--what's your story?

    I named mine Flying Tiger Brewing Company. The name is in honor of the World War II flying unit called "The Flying Tigers", in which my grandfather flew the P-40 Warhawk.
