My California common turned out weird...

Ok, after looking at my notes, it was a SIX gallon batch. 13.12 lbs of grain Drained tun, 1 sparge of 5.5 ga My pre-boil Gravity was listed at 1.022 but I'm wondering if that's the error.

My California common turned out weird...

Hypothesis #2 is that some of my grains weren't crushed. Like the LBS dude forgot part of the recipe. Like my dude, but read of this happening, dunno?

My California common turned out weird...

    EdWort's Apfelwein

I made this back in early January. Forgot about it until today, so I tried one. This stuff is dangerously good. If I'd have known how easy this is to make when I was a freshman in college, I'd have gotten into big trouble fast. I'd have been super popular, but also in deep deep poop.

    Plan B false bottom

Was able to to find a half dome false bottom at Hop City in ATL on my way through this morning. Guys were super helpful and sympathetic. Highly recommend them! My old contraption is in a crate and is being wheeled to the back of a giant warehouse (a la Last Crusade) as we speak.

    Plan B false bottom

On impulse I bought a false bottom for a 10 gallon igloo type mash tun. I couldn't find the parts for the ball valve, so I ordered a 10 gallon cooler mash tun online. Naturally, the false bottom doesn't fit, leaving a inch gap between the wall and its edge. Also naturally, I can't find a...
