For Sale Brew Magic + Equipment

Saddens me to say, but children and life have caught up to me and my brewing buddy and we've decided to sell most of our equipment to downsize. Maybe pick up brewing more frequently later in life when the kids are in college. Would like to sell this all together to someone ready to take...

    Exhaust fan for indoors

Thanks Jaybird. I just read a thread on dripping. I will install the fan near the wall/hole, insulate some flexibility ducting, and probably play with where I put the hood. The ceiling is slop ed so easy for me to start the suction at a higher point in the ceiling joists past where the BK is...

    Exhaust fan for indoors

Awesome. I am gonna purchase that vortex fan now. I still need to get some flexibility ducting and a roof or wall mount for exterior venting, right?

    Exhaust fan for indoors

Help, need a quick answer. What is a good vent for the boil kettle, for indoor use? I have a Pantry room I am brewing in and an electrician is installing a vent for me. So this goes straight up to the roof which is only a few feet above the BK. I am trying to find a small but powerful enough...

    Adjusting pH during Mash

Interesting. I've actually read the opposite. I do give it a little swirl to start though, and let it sit while it settles for a reading. It seems to give the final reading quicker.

    Adjusting pH during Mash

A daily occurrence. I had actually grabbed the 1/2 tsp, so 1.5 tsp total in a batch that was 10.5G after boil. I am worried about the impact to flavor, as it seemed to lack the bitterness of past IPAs after fermentation. The adjustments I did obviously worked, at the likely expense of...

    Regulator not....regulating?

Thanks - I'll try this "blast it out" method.

    Adjusting pH during Mash

Forgot to point out, I have a Milwaukee electric pH reader, that I calibrated at room temp while the strike water was heating. This was the third time brewing in three weeks, no issues. I won't rule out my pH meter being shot, I'll keep an eye on that next time. But I believe it is accurate...

    Regulator not....regulating?

I've got one basic Keg Cowboy regulator hooked up in my kegerator, and have been using that with no problems. But today, the pressure on the regulator for pressure to the kegs went wonky. I could use some troubleshooting help. I tried to turn the pressure down. It went up, I tried the...

    Adjusting pH during Mash

While past experience and the Bru'N Water spreadsheet told me my latest mash pH should have been around 5.2-5.3, 10 minutes in my pH read 4.8. :( I had a couple of baking soda additions during the mash to raise the pH up to 5.2 for the IPA I was brewing. What I haven't yet read (and the...

Turkey Deep Fry - store oil in keg?

I did not think about oil disposal, to dump off at a recycling center. Maybe if I find one near me where I can dump the oil and keep my container, the keg storage will work. I guess there is some risk to being able to deep clean the oil out too, when using it for a new batch of oil storage...

Turkey Deep Fry - store oil in keg?

Not technically meat smoking but this seemed the best place for my crossover cooking and kegging question. Every so often I deep fry a few turkeys, waiting for the oil to cool to filter it back into the big plastic jug for reuse. Tossing it every 12 or so months. I could probably save it...

    Olive Oil - Testing

Honey-Orange Hefe - using WLP300 OG 1049 Batch w/ OO = FG 1010 Batch w/out = FG 1010 3 Taste testers, triple blind. 1 could not pick the beers that matched. Of the other 2 results, one preferred the OO, and one the batch w/out. But all comments were really that it was identical. The...

    Olive Oil - Testing

Nice. My first batch for this test is being bottled this weekend as well. The version with OO was 2 points lower 10 or 14 days in, but both finished the same. Will post that as I have tasting results...and at that time I'll setup a google doc or something to record results.

    Olive Oil - Testing

Taste testing aside - This is the point of capturing the FG results. Without proper aeration it is tougher for the yeast to fully attenuate to the degree planned. So capturing the FG of the OO version and different versions of other aeration methods is the most meaningful testing of this, IMO...
