    Show us your Kegerator

I just got the only one I found at my local, Norwegian hardware store, you probably don´t have the same over there. The box said I could prime, but it wasn´t necessary. It also said I should paint with a brush. I just lightly sanded the entire fridge and then had to use three coats with a roller...

Going AG: 5x10 gallons in one day!

Alright, so if the seller says I can make 10 gallon batches, the pots will be more like 15? The beer will be consumed in my apartment during a two week period right after I get back to school. There will not be enough time to brew anything. Also, when I move all the equipment up, I will be...

Going AG: 5x10 gallons in one day!

First off, I´ll have 2 pots for "5 to 10 gallon brews", their website do not state the exact size. I also have a 3 gallon pot and a smaller water boiler to heat half a gallon in a matter of minutes, which I can use to speed up the heating of strike and sparge water. My fermenters are all 5...

Going AG: 5x10 gallons in one day!

Im a college student moving into a new apartment with some friends in the beginning of July. I will only be in town to move in there for 48 hours tops. The rest of the summer I will spend on vacation far away. Basically I will have one day to move and one day to brew. On my brew-day there will...

So, after a stressful build with a lot of wrong parts (nut on manometer didnt fit the CO2 tank, I got a 3" shank and a 4" while I should have had 2 4" ones, hose clamps that didnt fit on the CO2 lines etc.) and a limited amount of tools: I turned an old, white and brown fridge into...

Complete Beginners Question (Coopers IPA Kit)

Thats what it should say, yes! But be careful, 6 pounds of some malt extract without any extra hops will give you a very malty, not IPA-like beer. When I use really cold water, and dump it in there, its usually just right for pitching the yeast right away. And if you dont use extra hops, you...

Complete Beginners Question (Coopers IPA Kit)

Unionrdr and kanddr are pretty much spot on. Ive used Coopers kits for almost all my brews, and the rest have been with just lme/dme. Ive found the most successful way to work with the kits to be this: 1. Boil somewhere between 2 and 6 # of lme/dme and roughly 1 # of sugar and dissolve well in...

    Show us your Kegerator

So, Im going to build myself a kegerator, but there´s currently no good, cheap fridges available in the area I live in on the norwegian craigslist. Then I got invited to a party, and being the impatient soul I am (also having bought all the equipment already). I decided to keg for the first time...

    Few beginners kegging questions

Yea.. the kegs are pretty much clean inside. Ill see if I can find anything "percabonate" over here, but in Norway we dont really have any american brands.. But do you know if a ball lock thing thats not connected to the keg will leak if it is exposed to roughly 30 psi?

    Few beginners kegging questions

I'll try the hot water trick! The splitter is just a three way barbed splitter. So I´d cut my gas line in three, and hook one end to the regulator and the other two to the kegs. Ill order some new ones then, I guess. Would soaking in only star san be enough? I dont really know where I can...

    Few beginners kegging questions

So, I´ve decided to move on to kegging, and got all(most) the stuff I need. However, my gas tubes seem a little too tight for the fittings on the manometer and the ball lock, is it supposed to be very, very, very (almost impossibly) tight? Or did I get the wrong tubes? Also, I´m planning...

    Improving Coopers Draught kit

I almost only use coopers kits, with extra lme and hops.. They turn out very good for my taste. I typically add 4 pounds of lme, 1 pound of dextrose (or even table sugar) and 4 ounces of some hop I want to try out to a kit. I just wanted to say that even with small 2 gallon boils hops can make...

    IPA Hops

so, i did this one.. and i used roughly a pound of hops in a regular 5 gallon batch.. unfortunately, my coopers dry yeast (which usually starts in 3 hours) hasnt shown sign of life in the past 12 hours.. now i know i should rdwhahb, but i am studying for my final tomorrow, and then leaving my...

    IPA Hops

I have looked around for a larger pot, but unfortunately that really has no place in my budget at the moment.. I could use double the amount of hops for half a year, and still spend less than buying one of those large pots. However, that schedule looks very nice! Im thinking two separate...

    IPA Hops

I have actually done this one before, except with all Amarillo. I was thinking more along the line of 150 IBU's. edit: I only boil 2 gallons, as that is the largest pot I have.. If it is recommended, I could do two boils; one with only the late hops and one with the malt extract and early hops?
