    Metallic taste in my brew

I have used, extensively, an aluminum turkey fryer pot for brewing. No problems with metallic flavors. I do not wash my pot. I rinse it with hot water, not soap, and scrub gently with a green scrubby pad, only if there's crap caked on the sides. (no steel wool/heavy abrasive). For what it's worth.

Technique for reducing oxidation during dry hopping.

I've had issues with cardboardy aromas in my dry hopped beers in the past. Never had it with non dry hopped beers. I'll be dry hopping my next batch a little earlier in the ferment (I'll rack a little earlier), and also make sure there is no/minimal headspace in the secondary.

Reduction sauce notes when using Beer

A quick note from experience here. Just braised a couple of squirrels in a dark brown homebrew (og 55, fg 13, ibus~24-35), and then reduced the remaining broth, and it was delicious! there was a pronounced hop bitterness in the reduction, which I felt was nicely balanced by the syrupy malt...

    Maris Otter or Golden Promise

I'm planning a 100% pale malt, all homegrown goldings English IPA to highlight this year's goldings harvest, and I'm wondering whether Maris Otter or Golden Promise would be better. I know its subjective, I'm just curious what peoples opinions are. Maybe Ashburne? Any thoughts on this, or any...

    Hopsdirect Quality (not price) Issue

In case anyone else turns this up in a search... I bought a pound of low aa (3%) fuggles (whole leaf) from hops direct that, when boiled, just smelled like vegetables. Quite a disapointment. The columbus I bought from them had some brown in it, but still smells and tastes good almost a...

Changed my mind mid-fermentation...can I do this?

My take on it is that as long as there is enough fermentation still going on to flush the air out of the carboys to prevent oxidization, then why not.

Ex turkey fry pot for brewing?

I'm currently using an old turkey fry pot (aluminum). I just boiled a couple changes of water in it for an hour or two till I couldn't see a slick on top. drained alot through the tap. If you get it to the point where the water tastes fine, youre golden.
