Apple juice (w/asorbic only) & White lab English Cider yeast, no ferment... baker's+

It stopped bubbling again as of this morning, but it was going good after a swish last night, should I give it another spin/swish to stir up the yeast, or give up on this batch?

Apple juice (w/asorbic only) & White lab English Cider yeast, no ferment... baker's+

So I bought 5gl of Target Apple juice ([bottled? from concentrate] with Asorbic Acid). I warmed White labs English Cider yeast (I think it was) close to room temps shook it up like crazy, and pitched it... it was sitting idle for a week with no bubbles from the airlock. I don't have a...

Burned rubber-bandy aftertaste due to Extract, 3 weeks on yeast, or contamination?

It looks like the campden tablets are only like $2.75 for a bottle of 100... I'll be going that route for sure! Maybe I'll even brew just one more batch of malt-extract, 1st... to see the difference. So if I want to start with say 6-6.5 gallons to end up with about 5-5.5 gallons after the...

Burned rubber-bandy aftertaste due to Extract, 3 weeks on yeast, or contamination?

Well-shoot, I already have a secondary-tap for the wort-chiller I built, so I might as well just put in an in-line filter, and fill the kettle that way next brew. Time to burn through that Lowe's card... :(

Burned rubber-bandy aftertaste due to Extract, 3 weeks on yeast, or contamination?

Thanks for the help so far! I did use tap water, maybe it's partially the chlorine as mentioned. One thing I didn't do is boil the tap water added to the brew, as I had to use 3 pots as brew kettles (now I have a 7 gallon kettle), so I added like 2 gallons of tap water for this brew. I...

Burned rubber-bandy aftertaste due to Extract, 3 weeks on yeast, or contamination?

So I mentioned to a coworker that I was liking my 1st brew. He mentioned that he got some from a brother-in-law or something and it had a burnt-rubber-bandy-aftertaste, and mine did too. Another coworker mentioned that all brewing from extract has a funny taste. I only had one glass...

Overstock caps? 1000@$25, or 1000@$30 free shipping.

Sorry... :) A coworker stated that he was ready to go to lunch, and didn't want everything I typed so far to timeout. I was on my way out when I hit send. :p Yeah, Overstock is here... http://www.bottlecapco.com/OVERSTOCK_c_100.html Check for the sealing ring, as most of what they do is...

Overstock caps? 1000@$25, or 1000@$30 free shipping.

I hope these will work, as I e-mailed the company and verified they would cap beer bottles... In looking for deals in bulk caps (my local shop wants like $5/144 caps) I found some overstocked caps, and thought I would share. $25/1000 (@$0.025/ea): $30/1000 (@$0.03/ea): or I...

Brass connectors and ball valve ("in California" Some-Low Lead)... Did I screw up $?

Should the lead-free ball valve be okay to use, or will tin disperse in the wort and be an issue?

Brass connectors and ball valve ("in California" Some-Low Lead)... Did I screw up $?

Thanks y'all. It would be nice if there was a pickling title, or sticky. ;)

Brass connectors and ball valve ("in California" Some-Low Lead)... Did I screw up $?

Went to Lowe's and got assisted today with some parts so I could make a mash ton. I didn't think about lead in the brass fittings, and after researching StarSan and brass (I don't care about it in 5.56, or 9mm... but my lady and I don't drink from that), now I grow concerned. When I got my...

    Aluminum or Stainless?

I am new here, but in my research aluminum gets more oxidized over time and gets pitted, and in the pits microbes (that can skunk a a brew) cannot get cleaned as well as stainless, just like scratches in a plastic bucket.

    How did you find us?

This site came up in a few searches I was doing about different phases of brewing, and other questions, so I dropped my name in the hat of brewers here. ;)
