    Lactic acid and water question.

I'll answer my own question. When I tried to use this saved water, I saw weird growths floating in it. So I threw it out and used new water. I'm not sure if the contamination was an air born problem or if it was caused from the salts/acid I used. JL

    Lactic acid and water question.

Hi all, On a brew day about a month ago I purchased some RO water, added some salts and lactic acid, then heated the water for my mash and HLT. Something came up and I had to ditch my brewing plans for the day, so I cooled and bottled all the water for a future brew date. My question is...

    Pilot light leaks. Please help.

Thanks everyone, I was able to successfully install my other pilot light without a leak, but the flame is so small on this one that it's not touching the thermocouple. Hopefully all I need to do adjust the pilot adjustment screw on the gas valve. If not, I'll be trying to install again...

    Pilot light leaks. Please help.

Okay, I put in a new compression ring, followed the directions and it still leaked. So I kept turning it 1/4 turn increments and checked for leaks every time. After about 2 1/2 total rotations, it finally stopped leaking. I guess the finger-tight portion of the directions are different for...

    Pilot light leaks. Please help.

I was hoping someone can help me fix a pilot light leak on my Brutus 10. The flame doesn't actually engulf the unit, but the leak shows when I spray soapy water on the connection. I am using a Honeywell Q314A pilot. So a few questions: 1. Is this as good as it gets? or do I need to eliminate...

    Control Panel Mount Review?

Does anyone have this for their brew stand control panel mount? If so, does it move at all when you push buttons on your temp controller? I know there are threads that talk about this mount, and the bolts need to be upgraded, but I'd like hear more about how sturdy it is before I buy it. It...

    Control panel mounting arm

Hey all, I was thinking about ordering this today. How is it working for you since this thread started? Can you really tighten it good enough so that it doesn't move AT ALL while you press buttons on your temp controller? Maybe I have a short fuse, but if I have to hold it still with one...

Control Panel Backplate - Galvanized Zinc OK?

Hello, as I'm finishing my brutus 10 and building a control panel I just realized that my control panel box (gray plastic type) doesn't have a backplate. So I went to Lowes and grabbed a couple small galvanized zinc square plates from the electrical box section. Here's exactly what I got...

Brutus 10 - Control Panel - GFCI Question

I have my answer. No you cannot separate posts on a GFCI, but you can build your own portable GFCI and plug your control panel into that on brew day. Thanks everyone. Jamey PS. Stealthcruiser, keep on watching to learn.

Brutus 10 - Control Panel - GFCI Question

Before I ask this question, I scoured the forum for a solution and most of the topics are about spa panels and electric brewing. Can someone help me figure out how to separate the posts on a GFCI outlet for my control panel? I am creating my control panel based on Clay's control panel below...

    No carbonation.

Good news. This worked. I rolled the bottles, put them in a box with a heating blanket on low for a week or so and boom, carbonation. Alot of carbonation. Thanks everyone!
