I just dry hopped for the first time on my most recient batch and though I have never tried just adding it to the primary, I recommend racking to secondary for a nice clean beer.

Talking with a Co worker that homebrews mentioned he thinks my problem stems from my brew kettle being small and having to add alot of water to fill my five gallon bucket. Is there ratio of water added I should use?
I just tasted my first batch of homebrew (autumn amber ale) and though it tasted good I noticed it didn't have much smell or after taste. What might I have done wrong?
