Best chilling option for small batch?

Good idea; I didn't even think about that (as would be obvious by my thread). I think I'll give that a try next time; I'm sure it will work much better. Agreed, it needs to cool much more quickly than it did last night. I'm sure I'll have haze, which is what I was hoping to avoid. I was...

Best chilling option for small batch?

Typically when I do small batch I'll put my kettle in my kitchen sink and surround it with ice. Last night I did a batch and since I was low on ice, I just put the kettle in my fridge to cool. I made a point to watch it closely in case it cooled too fast, and it was the total opposite. It took...

What do you do at your job?

I'm an Assistant Service Manager at a Nissan dealership. So basically I sell service to customers, and I'm the main point of contact for the angry. Some people tell me I am a good listener...

Carbonated or "fizzy" tasting final product...?

I've gone by the temperature in the room I keep the beers during fermentation and bottle conditioning. I have typically been measuring priming sugar by volume. I saw several posts talking about a weight measurement being more reliable; I think I'll try that next time. Thanks guys!

Carbonated or "fizzy" tasting final product...?

Hey guys, I've run into a couple batches where after all is said and done and I go to enjoy the fruits of my labor, the beer comes away with a "fizzy" feel that almost takes away from the taste. It seems like this problem gets worse the longer the beer stays in the bottle before drinking...

    Carboy Recommendations

Soo... I should use a Volvo to ferment and a redhead for everything else? :D That might be dangerous considering the wife is a brunette... Thanks for this input guys. It seems like everyone I talk to brewing 5 gallons around me uses glass, and I've never seen a better bottle in action. I'm...

    What's up with your name?

When I was in college some of my friends nicknamed me "Laser" (Watch the movie Slackers and it could help shed a little light). 83 is my birth year, and Eric is my name. Also my Xbox Live gamertag.

    Hey from STL

Hey everyone! I think I joined this board a year or 2 ago, then didn't really do anything with it because of time/budget/etc. Welp, I'm back and getting more active into brewing again. Looking forward to sharing some experiences.

    Carboy Recommendations

Hey all, I've been brewing for a little while now but due to budget, I've been sticking with buckets for all my fermentations. I'm looking to get a couple carboys soon; just looking for overall opinions between glass carboys and the "better bottle" plastic carboys. I know most people use glass...

    New Kid from St. Louis

Hey everybody! I guess you could say I'm the latest new kid on the Forums. I've been reading a little bit about home brewing for a little while and just heard about this site and thought I'd stop by and learn as much as I can. My mother-in-law makes her own wine and it's been an addicting...
