    Yuengling challenge

Bloom, No Yuengling in LV. My PA Crew is just friends of mine who are from PA or a Yuengling area. They are all devout practitioners of the Cult of Yuengling. They all loved the beer a lot! It was such a hit that, the 8 of us drank an entire 5 gallon keg. They all said it was very close...

    Yuengling challenge

Turned out pretty good. I've got the PA tasting crew coming by tomorrow. I'll let you know what they say.

    Yuengling challenge

Bloom, I'm 100% with you. The only thing is, I wouldn't say "was a Cult beer". It's 100% "still a Cult beer". The beer guys, I know from PA talk about it like it's the best beer ever to be brewed. It is not my cup of tea at all. I do remember it being very sweet for a American Lagerish...

    Yuengling challenge

15 day ferment is complete. FG was right at 1.010. Next step is into the lager tank for 30 days. Hard to say, what a young flat Yuengling taste like but I think it's going to be very good beer. Not sure how close of a clone but we will find out.

    Yuengling challenge

Brewed it Saturday. Here's a pic of the cereal mash (2# corn grits and 1.5# 2-row). Boiled it for 2 hours. I hit the numbers perfectly! 11 gallons at S.G 1.044. If the yeast do their thing correctly. It should finish right around 1.010 (4.5% abv). The color going into the fermenter was a...

    Yuengling challenge

Well, I got challenged to brew a Yuengling clone. I've aways been pretty good at sniffing out recipe clues from brewery's websites. Yuengling keeps their data under lock and key! There is almost nothing available to even generate a starting point. I know a few data points. Cluster and...

Williams Brewing End of Summer sale

If anyone is look for a bazooka tube or kettle screen. What ever you call this gizmo they are $.49 cents. Yes less than two quarters. They got 3/8 and 1/2. Now shipping is $7.99 flat rate so you may want to throw in some other goodies to offset that cost. Sale ends tomorrow (9/9/2022)...

    Wierd Firestone 10 gallon keg

AH...I see now. That middle post looks like a pressure relief valve of some sort to me. My keg does not have one.

    Wierd Firestone 10 gallon keg

It's like the threaded post are shorter then a normal keg. So, instead of making a longer popits they used a plastic insert and the same popits. I found a replacement at Williams Brewing it was 2 bucks if I remember correctly. It was a little larger then the one in my keg so I did have to...

Show us your DIY stir plate!

My old stir plate was a little to small for my 5L flask. So, I had to break out the 3D printer yesterday and whip up something bigger. I reused the 120mm fan and adjustable power supply from my old unit. If I factor in the 3D printing plus the old parts cost me right around $20 bucks to make...

    Control Panel handles

They for sure do not offer much if any protection. My panel is connected to a stainless steel table with casters. They are wonderful for getting my table in a good brewing location. I could just grab the table but handles are way better for lining up the casters to lock them. My panel also...

    Control Panel handles

I found these on clearance at my local box store. 7" and 16" stainless drawer pulls. They come in many different sizes. I think I paid $3 for the small heat sink protectors and $6 for the gauge protectors. Unintended use is that they help keep wires and plug off the floor when not in use.
