Will this work for my BrewBuddy??

I think I'm going to be calling an electrician... I want simple but getting killed by electricity isn't worth it.

Will this work for my BrewBuddy??

It's only a 5 gallon system. I have to check the welding outlet/amperage. Yeah the $2400 was to put a spa panel for a hot tub and wire a pool house and ground the pool. Still, it was 6 hours work, materials were $1000. He's a friend doing me a favor at $200+ an hour! There is a serious...

Will this work for my BrewBuddy??

I'm building the Brewbuddy controller 30a 240v from Auberin Instruments. Have to have a GFI 240v outlet. I already have two 240v outlets for my welder and air compressor, don't relish the thought of having an electrician up here again to replace the panel. Having two 240v (on each side of the...

Chronicles, Bright Tanks, Unitanks OH MY!!!!

A lot of useful information and can't thank you folks enough! Some of it confuses me, sometimes I feel like I'm swimming in hoses and adapters and there are as many approaches to this as there are trees in the forest. My LHB shop is great to work with, he's very responsive, fairly priced, well...

Chronicles, Bright Tanks, Unitanks OH MY!!!!

I pay cash for everything : ) Don't even have a credit card. Besides I don't have the space for multiple fermentors let alone all the hobbies I support now. But that is a sound idea.

Chronicles, Bright Tanks, Unitanks OH MY!!!!

Rodent, thank you for the help. I never thought about having it tied up. That being said, I am mostly IPA's, bitters, wheat beers and don't age too awful long so I'd have the thing tied up several weeks and then probably move it to a keg or bottles. Are you talking long, extended aging? But...

Chronicles, Bright Tanks, Unitanks OH MY!!!!

So from what I'm reading, unless I'm missing something, there is NO reason to have a Brite Tank, or the Chronicle, if one has a UniTank. To me, and I could be wrong, the real market for the Brite Tank is for someone who already has a conical fermentor?

Chronicles, Bright Tanks, Unitanks OH MY!!!!

Thank you I guess I missed that :(. But the question remains is the Unitank able to do all of that as well and as good?? What might it not do as good?

Chronicles, Bright Tanks, Unitanks OH MY!!!!

I had made the decision to get an SS Brewtech Chronicle BME but have not done any brewing in almost a year. Winter's here, getting back into it, and now I see these Unitanks and Bright Tanks are clouding my decision making. Doing extract/steeping grains stove-top now, the occasional all grain...

Building a HERMS setup but want to BUY the controller

Sorry, just got back to this thread. Holidays keeping me busy as anything. Still weighing all my options here. Have a friend who's an electrician said he'd build a panel for me if I buy the components no charge or for some homebrew. He's looking at a few diagrams/resources I gave him. In...

Building a HERMS setup but want to BUY the controller

Wow Texas...never heard of them. Certainly going 120 will save money and I guess all I read was 120 didn't work so well. I have 240V but would have to run an extension from where it is (outside near my welder) into the house for winter brewing which would be a pain. 120 makes everything so...

Building a HERMS setup but want to BUY the controller

I would prefer to cut it myself too, which isn't a big deal.

Building a HERMS setup but want to BUY the controller

This is all helpful, thank you everyone. I guess wiring a control panel during the winter months isn't a bad thing.

Building a HERMS setup but want to BUY the controller

What features do I want? Temperature on three vessels, two pump switches, two heating elements I guess. Don't need many alarms, lights, whistles, locks, switches, polished stainless..etc. Safety, functionality and consistency are all I care about. I'm the kind of guy who never uses half the...

Building a HERMS setup but want to BUY the controller

I'm the OP and if I had the skills or laid out drawings I'd build it myself. One concern is TIME, which I don't have a ton of, but could manage to build it. The other is the fact I'm working with 240 and don't want to kill myself. I have built a vacuum tube audio amplifier and pre-amplifier...
