As you're learning go, you move up the kyu ranks (30 -> 1) then become dan level. I'm a fairly strong kyu player (~4 kyu) and still make those horrible beginner kyu mistakes -- so I haven't reached dan level yet.
Kyuagony: Still making the mistakes that make you realize you're still a novice.
This applies to other aspects of life as well. I'm always working on getting better.
