    Cherry coke

I actually bought cherry extract at the store. When I make my batch of rainbow cola, I add about a 1/2 teaspoon of the extract to my quart bottle. Tasting it side by side with real cherry coke, you couldn't tell the difference. Hope that helps you some.

    Why cream of tarter?

What I actually do is put my sugar and cream of tartar in a pan, add the water, then start heating to almost the boiling point (if i can see the bottom of the pan, it's ready). So, yes, you can add the sugar sooner w/o any harm. IMO, it's even better.

    A couple of quick questions

I have a couple of questions-- though I think one of them could belong in the DYI forum, so I will start with that one first. Have kegged water now for over 6 months, and the kids and I are very happy. Over the weekend, the picnic tap I have to serve it is now causing problems, such as...

    My portable party kegger

I may not be a beer drinker, but that is a nice setup-- might have to steal it for my soda quests.

    Why cream of tarter?

I asked the same question-- some of the replies I got are here Since I started adding it, I've noticed a taste difference in the final soda. At least give it a try and see if you like it.

    Reusing a BIB

ok, I've seen and done many things, and sit here dreaming of the day I can win the lottery and actually put in a fountain system that uses the BIB. I know that there isn't much savings using those, but I've been wondering, once the commercial syrup is gone, can you refill those with homemade...

    Dr. Pepper clone?

Daft, I don't think anyone has been able to make a clone of Dr. Pepper. It's one that I would be interested in, since I'm trying to wean my kids off the store stuff. If you ever find a recipe that comes really close, let me know. It's a popular drink around here.

    Cream of Tartar?

All I use is Watkins Cherry flavor Extract. Then mix it in the cola. If it's any easier-- 2 1/2 cups table sugar 1/2 cup splenda (or store brand) 3 cups of water 1 1/2 tsp cream of tartar 1 once Prairie Moon Cola Concentrate 1 tsp Watkins Cherry flavor Extract Combine the first 4 ingredients...

Anyone make instant soda with ICI Soda Siphon?

Dear, from what I have experienced, the syrup doesn't last long enough to go bad in my house. The one that has lasted over 6 months was stored in the fridge the entire time. But I can share our root beer recipe that has made a hit here: RIP Root Beer (A root beer you will die for) 2 1/2 cups...

    First time Kegging - HELP

I want to chime in on the length of the hose. When I got my set up, I got a picnic tap with only 6ft of beer hose, and have not had a problem with the "firehose" effect or pure foam. It may be because I'm only carbing water and not soda. Just my 2 cents.

    Carbonating soda. Help

I have just water in my keg, and usually put the gas on it, shake it off and on for about an hour, and by the next morning it's ready to make soda. I don't know if you need 42' of line, but I try to stay away from that discussion. Right now I have a picnic tap with 6' of line on it (don't know...

    Cream of Tartar?

I can't thank all of you enough for this info. Yesterday I made a syrup of 5 cups of table sugar, 1 cup splenda, 6 cups of water and 3 teaspoons of the cream of tartar. Made 64 oz of syrup that I then flavored one with just cola from Prairie Moon, the other was a cola with 1 1/2 tsp of cherry...

    Better syrup attempts for sodastream

Firefly-- i can say with confidence the cola is wonderful. I ordered 6 of the Rio concentrate and my son has been having a blast mixing different ones together for something totally new. They are worth spending the money getting in my books.
