Posting a quick update to the thread: The beer is now over a year old and it's interesting. It's not quite a smore, and VERY sweet, but good. Definitely a dessert beer. I think if it had more marshmallow taste (however the hell you get that...) and a little less chocolate it would be spot on.

The beer turned out good (especially after a few months), but it's not anywhere close to the taste of Baltika #6. Next time I'll try the licorice, but I haven't been able to brew anything for the past few months due to being crazy busy.

It turned out well, though probably could have used more boil time to increase the gravity. Doesn't taste like what I was going for, probably because it's not high enough alcohol. Haven't had a chance to brew in the last 6 months or so due to circumstances beyond my control.

Not yet, though my beer brewing has slowed to a trickle recently. This is on my way back burner, as there's a bunch of other things I want to brew and/or tweak beforehand. This was good, just not what I was expecting.

The Goodwill is it's own odd business model. Our local one(s) are selling used clothing at only 25% less (maybe) than brand new stuff. A nice jacket is damn near $60 there, when it's maybe $80 new. I'm not sure when this changed, but I seem to recall being able to buy pretty much anything at...

That's what I initially thought, but I have made a subsequent batch using Munich (and a little vienna) for the base and it still doesn't give it the taste I'm looking for. It's definitely a molasses type taste that I can't pin down. Thanks for the suggestion though, I noticed the base malt...

I ended up using treacle during the priming stage and I think it gave it a somewhat metallic flavor. It's only now coming together a little better. It's good, but for the first few months it definitely had a metallic twang (probably from the metal can the treacle came in?). I still can't...
