First batch of cider, ready to drink

Just cracked open my first jar of cider. Hasn't had time to age, but it still tastes pretty good. I used store bought juice, with Lavlin EC-1118. It's also astoundingly clear. You can't really tell the clarity in the picture, but its excellent in a glass. I didn't really expect my first batch to...

    Broken Siphon

Thanks for all the good advice. I don't really have any tubing available, and I haven't been able to find any suitable around town. With this storm coming in, I might not be able to get out for a few days (Who knows?). I think I'm just gonna put off racking till tomorrow, and hope I can find...

    Broken Siphon

So my siphon broke the other day, and I have some cider I'm gonna need to rack tomorrow. I've still got my racking cane, so I was wondering if attaching the plastic piece from the end of it to a clean, unused kerosene siphon would work. Anyone see any inherent problems in doing this?

What type of sugar should I use?

So I'm getting ready to start my first cider, when some of my supplies arrive in the mail. I'm looking for some information on how much sugar to add to what I intend on using. For the ingredients here is what I have so far: Apple Juice (No preservatives) - 5 Gallons Yeast - Lavlin...

I do believe that I can ferment water!

It is very possible to ferment sugar water. Most brewers cringe when someone talks about it, but it really isn't all that bad. I've done it successfully numerous times. 1.Take 3.5 cups of sugar and add to an old milk jug 2.Take 12 cups of boiled water and add to the jug. 3.Boil 1 cup of water...
