    When to add spices to beer and how much?

    Question relating to this thread: I'm brewing a saison, with spices added at the last 5 minutes of the boil. (Orange peel, coriander seed, and paradise seed). Should I filter the spices out after or should they stay in for fermentation? My plan is to put everything in loose (including hops)...

    I had the exact same question. I just did a batch and did not filter or siphon from the brew pot, but then afterwards noticed the kit instructions said to siphon. I did have the hops in mesh bags, so I pulled those out. Just curious, what are the other solids that would be filtered out...
