I'm dealing with the same problem. Don't have star san. I saw reference to using dish washing soap. I assume mixed with water, correct? How much water?

How Long Does Beer Last in a Keg

Interesting. I seem to be getting 3 different opinions. 1 group has never had a keg last longer than three months the 2nd group notices loss of hop flavor after about 6 months the third group says no o2 means no problem indefinitely Guess I will be finding out which group I fall into.

How Long Does Beer Last in a Keg

It will be stored in the kegerator. I also tend towards bigger beers, where aging can be advantageous. Does beer in a keg age more quickly than bottled? Or beer that bulk ages in a carboy?

How Long Does Beer Last in a Keg

Been homebrewing for years now, just started kegging. Got a newbie question: How long does homebrew last in a keg? I don't drink a lot, so am concerned beer will age before I finish the keg.

Longest time in the secondary for your ales?

10 months for me. Barleywine. Recipe called for aging it 1 year. It'll sit in the bottles until November, when I'll sample it on its 1st birthday. I added Montrachet yeast at the time of bottling.

McMenamins (not sure about spelling) is usually good. They brew a range of beers.

    Carbing a year old Barleywine

Does yeast type matter? I'm thinking of using a wine yeast due to the high ABV.

    Carbing a year old Barleywine

I have been bulk aging a barleywine for about a year now. Getting ready to bottle. With year old yeast do I need to take any extra pre-cautions to make sure it carbonates well?

    Aging before carbonating

I am in the process of aging my uncarbed barleywine for nine months. The recipe called for a total age of 1 year. So, yes, I believe it is a common practice for bigger beers.

Can you have too many bottles? I estimate to have 500 plus.

This is how I get mine. Here is a little secret: Don't take your wife WITH you...

    Conditioning a barleywine

I'm no expert. But, seems to me the aroma doesn't have any place to go. It can't soak back into the beer, can it? Anyhow, I'm just following the recipe. Papazian knows a hell of a lot more than I do about beer!

    Conditioning a barleywine

I'm following a Papazian recipe that calls for that-dry hopping and then aging for one year.
