Very bitter taste in Mango Blonde

Hi guys, I know, I know. Mango beer is bleh, sometimes. A couple of years back, a friend had asked me to brew him a mango beer for a party. I took it as a personal challenge and brewed him a mango blonde. The beer turned out quite good, lots of people liked it. For my taste, I felt the mango...

    Quick secondary regulator question

Hey guys, I have not used secondary regulators before and have a quick conceptual question. Say I have several secondary regulators in line fed from one primary regulator. Say the primary regulator is at 35 psi. Now lets say the first secondary regulator in line is set at 20 psi. Does a...

CO2 manifold for large system question

Thanks a lot guys. Currently evaluating my options. Might go for a secondary regulator for each keg.

CO2 manifold for large system question

Right, I get that, but for the ones that do, do they just buy a bunch of secondary regulators and link them up in series? And for the ones that don't use secondary regulators, do they just line up several manifolds in series?

CO2 manifold for large system question

I need to set up a large draft system of 25-30 taps. All manifolds I've seen online don't seem to go higher than 9 outlets. All I can think of is removing the cap at the opposite end of the manifold and joining it to another one with a nipple or piece of hose. Is this the correct way to do it...

    Keezer dimensions question

Thanks zachattack. What if I have petainerkegs (PET kegs) in there? Will there by a quicker heat loss from a PET keg instead of an SS keg?

    Keezer dimensions question

Hello All, I have a question that's been in my mind for a while. I am building a keezer out of a chest freezer that can tightly fit 3 1/6 barrel kegs. This means the kegs will be in contact against each other and against the walls of the freezer. I am using a temperature controller...

Adding airlock pressure to retain esters?

Was having a chat with a brew master at a local brewery. Mind you, he is over 60, studied the craft in Germany and is very "old school". He said that airlocks should always be set at a regulated pressure (say 15 psi) as letting gas freely leave the vessel leads to esters and characteristic...

Manual kegging from brite tank question

I have a brite beer tank with a butterfly valve that has an ID of 32mm (1.26"). I have a manual counter-pressure keg filler with a liquid in tailpiece diameter of 1/2". How do I make the adjustment to connect the tank valve to my liquid line in? Also, if I remember correctly, decreasing...

    Counter-pressure filling of sanke/petainerkeg

Hello All, I'm getting several petainerkegs soon and I'm having a bit of a problem understanding the filling process. As a reference, I'm using the following video: http://youtu.be/9mhsuoMZhGg As far as I understand, this is how it works: -I will have my gas cylinder connect, via a regulator...

Is this IPA going to turn out disguntingly sweet?

Well here's a question: it's been fermenting for a couple days. Could I add DME to the fermenter and make it an Imperial IPA?

Is this IPA going to turn out disguntingly sweet?

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, I had already brewed it when I started this thread. I'm crossing my fingers that the fact that they are "light" caramel hops might not make it AS sweet. I can't believe I made this mistake. I'm usually very careful with my grain bill ratios. We will see what happens..

Is this IPA going to turn out disguntingly sweet?

My LHBS didn't have any Munich or Carapils, which are essential parts of an IPA recipe of mine that has worked quite well. For this attempt, I wanted to raise the body, head retention and mouthfeel a bit. Without Munich or Carapils, I had to improvise, and I think I went overboard with the...

    2013 Crop Hops?

Thanks guys, well chinook and cascade from the 2013 harvest come out to about $8/lb which seems cheap to me. However, I would have to commit to at least a 22lb order, and it would suck to get hops that are not as good anymore

    2013 Crop Hops?

I came across some bulk hops at a good price. They're 2013 crop. That means they were grown from 2013 and harvested in 2014, right? Any disadvantages to using these hops if they're pellets in nitrogen flushed bags? Thanks guys
