So I will take the keg out of the fridge and let it warm up, once I start to see fermentation I wil put it back in the fridge. If the termperature in the fridge is lower, does this also mean that the airlock will be less active?
I have just put my second partial in the fermenter. It's a larger and the yeast is asking for a temp range between 9-14c. I have never had to keep it that low so I have decided to put it in the fridge. Is this the right move? The fridge is hovering around 10-12c. Will it actually work at that...
I have been running for five days, took a read and I'm showing 1.020. Is all progressing well or is the fermentation struck or am I worried for nothing.
I am doing my first partial this weekend, but it just so happens that my son broke my hydrometer. Should I push on or wait for a new one to arrive. This weekend will be the last chance I get for a while. Plus I'm pumped to give it a go. Should I give it a go?
I enjoy the Hoegaarden and will be giving your recipe a go this weekend. It will be my first partial so I'm looking forward to it. It's still a bit mind boggling for a noobie at times reading through the forums but your instructions make it a lot less confusing. Will let you know the results.
Thanks for the advice all....I got the temperature up and things have been bubbling away for since late last night! Although things have stopped now (after about 24hrs). I added the finnings in so I guees I will look to bottle in the next few days.
Hi,
When we pitched the yeast the temperature was low, bout 15 degrees Celcius, the temp has only just started getting up into the 20s, but as I mentioned it has been very cold here during the nights (sometimes as low as 2 degrees).
Are the sugars in the malt extract?
Cheers
Mark
