You've never seen a kegerator that was balanced properly.
My numbers for resistance may have been off - it looks like the 3/16" resistance is listed at 2.2-3psi per foot.
Regardless, I run my system at about 14psi and I have 12 foot long Bevlex-200 3/16"ID lines coming out of each keg. I...
I have a good solution for normal campouts involving a half size corny keg and a 10 gallon water cooler, but I need to bring a full 5 gallon batch to an event this weekend. I don't really want to invest in new stuff since this is not something I plan to do regularly.
My current plan is to...
I highly recommend the Celis White clone if you like wits (only a 30 minute boil time!)... though my brew day this weekend was a bit of a disaster.
The propane cooker was running WAY too rich for some reason and covered everything in soot, ended up doing my boil on the stove - which has its...
I pretty much look like everyone else in Austin with the beard and all, but maybe!
I feel lucky to live within a few miles of a major homebrew store... It's easy to swing by on my lunch break and pick up a new kit.
I've been brewing like mad lately - Chimay Grand Reserve clone two weeks...
THIS is what I brought out to your place. When you buy a kit it comes with instructions.
Homebrewtalk is a great site - if you do some more reading here you'll learn everything you need to know.
You don't need all that much stuff to get started, but unless you want to throw money at a...
Good point. Since I was re-boiling anyway I added more DME and water for a total of 2.4 liters - still short of mrmalty's numbers, but a heck of a lot better (hopefully) than just pitching 2 vials of yeast into the final beer like I would have done before.
Hm - just took another look at it - there is actually a whole bunch of stuff hanging out on the bottom of the pot. It looks like there is just a lot of the DME that didn't dissolve. Still not sure what to do - advice appreciated!
More edits: I was able to find some similar threads. I...
I finally decided to stop being lazy and make a starter. I had some older DME in a ziplock in my beer stuff drawer - so I boiled a cup of that in about 6 cups of water for 5 minutes... but now that it's cooling down, there are bits of floating stuff on top. I guess this is just stubborn DME...
So you think it could be intentional and they mean for it to be 30 mins? (I just don't wan't to brew too short due to a misprint. Unfortunately they are closed so I can't check with them
So I'm mashing right now for a clone of Celis White using Austin Homebrew Supply's clone kit - mini mash.
I just realized that it only calls for a 30 minute brew - every other beer I've done says 60 minutes.
Is this a mistake? Should I do 30 minutes or 60?
heelp!
Thanks. I made the girlfriend chase me around with the D90 taking pictures. I had to edit out an abnormal number of butt pictures.
The beer is great. I ended up forcing in a bit more carbonation than I usually do (I forget what temp my fridge is at, but I went with ~15psi instead of the...
Another opportunity to mess with things comes in the last 5 minutes of the brew. Hops added at this stage are called aroma hops. This recipe calls for 1oz of Northern Brewer hops and 1oz of Centennial hops:
The hour is up and the brewing is done! Time to cool this stuff off ASAFP. I use...
I made this post for my friends on a truck board a few months ago to show how I make the beer I'm always giving away (so it's written from a "duh... now you hafta add yeast to make teh b00ze" point of view) - thought it might be of interest here.
I'm still fairly new, so I'm sure my technique...
