I used two viles of WLP002 yeast (I also added yeast nutrient at the end of the boil if it matters), and 1.016 was my final gravity. Based on what I've read, I just need to be patient - but I appreciate your feedback. I like the idea of adding the flat beer to another batch if it doesn't carb...
I did - it was my first all grain beer and it took me all night to brew it. Thanks for the reassurance. The other two beers I've brewed took one week to carbonate, so I was concerned.
As a followup, it's been in the bottle for 2 weeks and is barely carbonated. I've read I need to just wait longer or add a little yeast to each bottle. In this case, I think I'll just wait and pray for the best. I guess that means it was definitely done fermenting. I'm learning a lot with this...
I've only waited 2 weeks, but this beer which is about 9 1/2% ABV, is not carbonated much yet if at all. It tastes great, but I'm not sure what to do. I guess I can wait another 2 weeks and see what happens. I tried rolling them around this morning, so maybe that will help get the yeast working...
It dropped from 18 to 16 on the rack (target FG was 21), so you're correct. I went ahead and bottled it because it appeared to be done fermenting and I didn't want to over expose the beer to the dry hops beyond the 10 day limit.
I won't make that mistake again. I have this irrational fear of...
Thanks guys - that's what I needed to hear. Airlock activity doesn't mean fermentation is happening. Stable gravity is what tells me it's done fermenting.
This is my first all grain batch - a 3-Floyds Dreadnought clone. Unlike my last 2 extract kits, this one is fermenting like a MF. This time I used two viles of yeast, yeast nutrient, and aerated the wort with a pump - so that may be why. Anyway, after fermenting a little more than a week, I hit...
Thanks much for the reassurance. You guys are awesome. I was really worried for a bunch of reasons. First, cooling down the wort in the ice bath took forever and I'm not sure if I waited long enough. The temperature was uneven when I moved the thermometer around. I also was following what I read...
I'm brewing my first batch of beer and I'm quite worried about it (as most people probably are their first time). I brewed it over 3 days ago and I haven't seen any bubbles. I opened up the bucket and the attached image is what I saw. Can anyone help me know what to do? Should I add more yeast...
