Using juice instead of water for making beer...

It was my intent to boil some in the wort, and then not boil the bit that I mix into my carboy.

Using juice instead of water for making beer...

So I have gotten it in my head that this might be a good idea and I was wondering if someone to talking me out of it. So I just had Sam Adam's White Christmas which has cinnamon and nutmeg. It is basically a white ale. I was wondering if I brewed a white ale with apple cider instead of water...

Easy Stove-Top Pasteurizing - With Pics

Would it possible to pasturize in the oven at 190 degrees? I could fit more bottles in at one time.

    Bray's One Month Mead

As of having performed some "medical studies", I am well aware of their nuances and potential for biases. If you are really interested in how they performed their studies, I am sure it would be simple to look up. I have yet to read any evidence that using pure oxygen provides some benefit to...

    Bray's One Month Mead

John J. Palmer How to Brew 2006 page 71 "Interestingly enough, that also seems to be the consensus of Ron Cooper and The Strand Brewers club of Redondo Beach, California, in the 'For Geeks Only' section of the March/April 2004 issue of Zymurgy magazine. In the article 'Oxygen and Hydrogen...

    Bray's One Month Mead

So the "How to Brew" book I am reading said that pure O2 hasn't shown to have any benefit compared to simple aeration. In fact, during taste testing, the pure 02 batches got poorer ratings.

    Bray's One Month Mead

So I pitched two vials of Belgian Golden Ale yeast WLP570 4 weeks and 2 days ago. It appears to still be bubbling (maybe not as vigorously). Still waiting for it to finish. It doesn't look like it will finish before Thanksgiving, but it will be close.

    Bray's One Month Mead

My adulterated BOMM is still bubbling. I am very curious about how it will turn out since the fermentation has been so vigorous. Next Sunday will be 4 weeks.

How do you know when your beer is done fermenting?

So I checked the specific gravity of my beer. Its 1.01 and the OG was 1.1. Its still a little cloudy, but its been 4 weeks. Is it time to bottle?

    delabeling and bottle question

So, the B-Brite (Which I think is the same as oxyclean) soaked off all the sierra Nevada and sam adams labels off just fine. I found in the forums for Heineken bottles, that putting them in the oven at 180 degrees worked. And it did. I just had to scrape off the glue. I found in the...

    delabeling and bottle question

So I used oxyclean and it got my Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada labels off. Any suggestions on how to get my Heineken labels off?

How do you know when your beer is done fermenting?

Yes, but using the recipe I had for the Belgian, its OG was supposed to be 1.067 and the final ABV of my Lambic was supposed to be about 6%.

How do you know when your beer is done fermenting?

So my 5 gallon Lambic started off at 1.034 and my 3 gallon Belgian started off at 1.100.

    Bray's One Month Mead

I guess I will be checking the final specific gravity. I will publish my possibly minor alterations if it works, I guess if it doesn't, it will serve as a warning....

How do you know when your beer is done fermenting?

Well so I was brewing two batches at once and I mixed up my extracts. So my original specific gravities are off.
