    New Zealand Pils

After seeing these comments, I'm definitely going to have to make it again with Nelson and either Motueka or Riwaka. I can't wait to see how it turned out with the Rakau, it smelled terrific going into the fermenter.

    New Zealand Pils

For a 7 gallon batch I went with: 15lbs Pilsner malt .5oz of Pacific Jade @ 60 minutes .5oz Nelson Sauvin @ 15 min .5oz Rakau @ 15 min .75oz Nelson Sauvin @ 5 min .75oz Rakau @ 5 min I'm hoping that it does exactly what you're describing. Gordon Strong has done a writeup for a BJCP profile...

    New Zealand Pils

I'm planning on brewing up a NZ Pilsner tomorrow and I'm trying to decide on which hops to use. I'm going to be using 100% Weyerman Pils malt, starting with RO water and adjusting similarly to a German Pils. I'm thinking Pacific Jade for bittering, and I have Rakay, Nelson Sauvin and Motueka as...

    Transferring, and Trub

I'm curious, as I'm currently fighting a similar issue and have pretty much decided to just start dumping everything into the fermentor. I currently use Irish moss, but if I'm going to dump everything into the kettle anyway and give up on separating the break, is there any reason to continue or...

    Closed Racking onto Hop Tube

I thought about that, but if I'm going to open the keg after transfer, and drop that tube (which will be full of air) into the keg, is it worth purging with starsan? Maybe run some gas into the keg with the hop tube already in it and then rack into the keg that at least has a lower concentration...

    Closed Racking onto Hop Tube

This weekend I'm planning to rack my Mosaic Promise clone to keg. I'm going to be dry hopping with one of the 400 micron hop tubes, and have a few questions. I'd like to purge the receiving keg, but I'm not sure how I would do that with the hop tube. The best way to purge that I know of is to...

    Birthday Brew Suggestions

I did some research on corks, seems like they're a pita, but they look really nice and 'may' help ward off oxidation.

    Birthday Brew Suggestions

I want to brew something nice for myself on my birthday, something that will age well and I can drink with family and friends on future birthdays. I'm seriously considering a Belgian Tripel or Quad, but I'm curious about how well these stand up to extended aging like I'm considering, if the Quad...

Open a brewery by another brewery

If you're talking about the place I'm thinking of there's also a brewery along that stretch of highway, and people visit the area from all around. It's one of the few places in Texas that you can walk down the sidewalk holding a pint of good German beer. Man, this makes me want to visit...

Northern brewer all grain kit deal- good for biab?

I may be low on sleep today. I saw the AHS sale and immediately thought about this thread, never even dawned on me that it was NB doing the other sale.

Northern brewer all grain kit deal- good for biab?

Went and looked for this the other day, but the special had ended 'due to overwhelming demand' Now, they're doing $25 kits for their 25th anniversary, wondering if this new deal is worth picking up a couple of kits for future biab endeavors.

    Bottle cap seals

The mixing of the sugar could be one thing. I bottled all of the swing tops first and then the crown caps last. It's possible that the priming sugar wasn't mixed through.

    Bottle cap seals

I'm worried it was the capper, but I bottled 10 gal yesterday and it seemed to be working properly. I guess I'll know for sure in about 3 weeks. Maybe it was just the cider crowns weren't meant for beer bottles, I used multiple types, Sam Adams, Breckenridge, New Belgium, etc. Some of them I did...

    Bottle cap seals

The unspiced was primed all together with 4oz of dextrose and i used 1oz for the spiced (1 oz/gal) I used recycled bottles for the crowns, well cleaned rinsed and sanitized. I'm completely stumped as to why it didn't work out.

    Bottle cap seals

Okay, so about a month ago i bottled a batch of graff and something didn't go as I had planned. It was a five gallon batch, 1 gallon of which i had racked off and spiced. I bottled the majority of the Un spiced graff in swing tops and the rest with crown caps and all of the spiced with crowns...
