Got a new chiller and am thinking about using a pump to recirculate water from a 5 gal bucket. Found a pump that does 3 gal per min. Anyone have experience w/ a pump and if so what capacity pump do you use?

would you slice them and leave the soaking in the bourbon or leave them as is and slice just prior to adding to secondary?

I have a breakfast stout that is currently in primary and I am planning to add some bourbon soaked vanilla beans to secondary. I picked up two whole vanilla bean pods and saw that they need to be chopped into 1" pieces. My question pertains to the # of pods i should use. Should i use one or both?

I haven't, but I do know that the Oak Spring Winery has brewing supplies. I think their inventory is limited and I did a price check on a better bottle there. They are $23-$27 online and it was over $40 there.

Does anyone have successful experience with adding Oats to an extract stout? I'm curious to know if you added to boil or primary/secondary? If added to boil, how much and when did you add?
