Ok, taking this apart was no big deal at all. Simply snap the collar out of the way and pry out the plug.
Easy peasy! Now the question is will it withstand the pressure to naturally carb after it's refilled and the plug and collar reassembled?
I guess I'm brewing this weekend!
The Mini Kegs have a bladder inside them and the SUB pressurizes the chamber collapsing the bladder as you empty the Keg. Air never comes in contact with the beer and my first one stayed fresh and fully carbonated right up to the last pour. Although it took me less than a week to empty it I...
Anyone figured out a way to use this for Homebrew yet?
I haven't had the time or space in the new house to brew so while I figure out my equipment for small batch brewing I needed beer.
I subscribed to the Hopsy home beer delivery service that includes this Krups SUB mini kegerator and they...
I was thinking I'd vourlof and sparge just like I used to with my big system.
I might try the oven method for another batch though, just to keep things simple and small.
The beer was much clearer than the wort but i feel like when I used to brew on my old 3 teir system it was clearer. I dunno, maybe selective memory too...
I've been out of the game for a few years because we sold our house scaled down to a much smaller space. I sold everything and quit brewing...
I've been reading alot about one gallon BIAB and thought I'd give it a shot. The beer turned out quite nice but two things about the process bothered...
I use something very similar that I got from Keg Connection. I found a 24 oz. tank at WalMart the other day and when I went to get a fill it was the same price as the 20 oz tank. :)
Boiling hopped extract actually increases the bitterness. Most are designed to be used as no-boil kits. If you use them with other ingredients that must be boiled, add the hopped extract after flameout.
I usually brew Brewers Best Kits and they come with priming sugar that I never use because I always keg and force carb. I've got about a dozen or so of these leftover packs of priming sugar which I'm sure is just corn sugar.
What would be a good no-boil kit to use some of them up? My local shop...
Budweiser is made with rice in the grain bill. The rice extract gets you closer to the original. You can also use dried rice extract but the liquid seems to be more readily available. I also think you have a better chance keeping everything sanitized with the liquid.
The extract recipe is very easy. The hardest part is resisting the urge to boil it.
I would imagine making this style in all grain would be pretty hard.
I've actually got a recipe that I call "Lawnmower Lite" that I brew for the masses. It's always the first to go and everyone raves about it.
1 can of Muntons Premium Pilsner no-boil kit
1 can of Liquid Rice Extract
Heat 2 gallons of water to 170 deg or so and turn off heat.
Stir in and...
