In the last few beer kits I have bought the directions say to not rehydrate my yeast. The problem I have is that the package of yeast that comes in the kit say to rehydrate. What should I do, follow the kit instructions and not rehydrate or follow the instructions on the yeast package?
I have tested 3, one was one of the initial’s bottles filled one from the middle and one from closer to the end.
the OG was 1.053 (kit range 1.054-1.058)
The FG was 1.011 (kit range 1.011-1.014)
It was a brew kit that had priming sugar as part of the kit. I started by dissolving 5 oz of priming sugar in some water and added it the bottling bucket. Once it cooled I added grapefruit extract. Then transferred the beer into the bottling bucket. After bottling I kept the bottles in my closet...
I recently brewed my first IPA. Bottled it 3 weeks ago and opened the first one and it had little to no carbonation. I filled the brew recipe through every step. What did I do wrong? Thanks for any help.
I am brewing a small batch chocolate stout and the kit I was using says it should sit in the secondary fermenter for about 2 weeks. My issue is that it seems that fermentation has stopped a week in to the two weeks. Should I just let it go for another week or go ahead and bottle it?
Thanks in...
It was the first batch I have tried, it was very small, it was 1.5 gallons at the start. It’s a chocolate stout and was done with extract. I think my boil may have been too high the first 10-15 minutes but everything else seemed fine.
I didn’t calibrate my hygrometer. That could also be it...
What could be a reason for my OG to be high? The recipe I’m using says it should be between 1.054-1.057. It was at 1.074.
Will this affect the final product? Thank you in advance from a noob.
